Notes
Early stereo pressing variant. First version, containing several edited bits, not heard on later versions (see Master Release).
Navy blue labels with silver print and 1.5" diameter press ring.
The typesetting layout used on the labels is slightly different from the other similar versions: "The Mothers Of Invention" appears on one line. Track numbering for B8 is a bit to the left of numbers B1 through B7 which are all in a straight vertical line.
There are no separation bands in between tracks, so both sides look like they only have one very long track.
Initially came with an ''only money cut-outs'' insert. Some copies have a "Mothers" yellow sticker on top front middle of cover.
Track B1, Nasal Retentive Caliope Music, is mis-spelled on label, but spelled correctly as 'Calliope' on cover.
Track B4 is listed as "Lonely Little Girl" on the label and as "It's His Voice on the Radio" on the inner gatefold.
Catalog no. V6 5045X on rear cover and spine; catalog no. V6 5045 on labels.
In the text balloon on the cover Frank Zappa Says "Is This Phase One Of Lumpy Gravy?", making a reference to the album Lumpy Gravy.
The gatefold sleeve design is a blatant parody of the album The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, except that the collage that usually appears on the front cover, appears in the center of the gatefold instead, and vice versa.
BAOI note: The sideways stamped block shaped "S" in the 8 o'clock position of the runouts denotes a pressing by MGM Record Manufacturing Division.
Spider Barbour credited on gatefold as Spider.

My copy is only regularly censored on side 1, with side 2 having the edit on "Lets Make The Water Turn Black". Aside from that the sound quality is very good, although I still ever so slightly prefer the sound of the 95 CD.

just found a 2nd hand copy of this version today with the insert. all the bad words and risque references are intact, and the matrix etchings match. i'm guessing this is the complete version to own?

"There are 'counterfeit' issues of 'WOIIFTM' in circulation. These usually have hand-written matrices (or none) - V6 5045X is one popular example of this, with no visible track separation & Sunset Blvd address (+audio less sharp). Note: Original US V&V65054 do have hand-written matrices"-from the release page. I have 4 copies of what seem to be the original Verve issue, all with similar matrix numbers. None of these copies have "visible track separation" so I'm confused, do any copies of this record have "visible track separation" ? None of my copies seem like "counterfeits" and all have the insert page. -
Edited one year agoAnyone knowing who is the guy standing in front of the group (turning its back to the camera) on the red center spread? A young Cal Schenkel, perhaps?

As we all know, there are two versions of the US Verve LP; one with censored lyrics ("Let's Make The Water Turn Black", "Absolutely Free", among others) , and the one without the edits. Surely there must be a way on Discogs for sellers and collectors to let folks know at a glance which version they have? I mean, there are allowances for items such as "mono", "stereo", or vinyl color, why not "edited"?

Ok, so my copy resembles this one

Except it has Rev-F-1 on side 2.
Your thoughts? -

My copy misses the Third Story Music credit on both sides of the vinyl. It´s a 1968 blue-labeled pressing - any one has that one..?
-
Whatever takes your fancy but for my money I love One Size Fits All, purely for its musicianship and the sings are totally brilliant. Roxy isn't bad too, both versions I mean.
