On the track "Mister E" you will notice that the sound is very briefly muted around 00:38. As this mute is on the original master tape and could only be fixed with digital tools, we decided to leave it as it is, to be able to provide a true AAA release.

While some copies have no indication that this is a Record Store Day release, others have a hype sticker confirming that it is (see Images).

I don't see any thing but 5 stars on this. Davis is superb as usual and with Woody Shaw and Larry Young (too bad he only made it to 37yrs.)only makes a great album even better! Flat, dead quiet and well balanced! Thanks! MPS

A great re-release of a great album - I'll give it 4 1/2 star.
Flat pressing w. very low noise. Music sound good though not on par with the best masteringes/recordings we get these years.
Nice gatefold and insert w. photos and interesting information of the musicians, recording etc.

The reissue is very nice and the sound quality is very good but not fantastic. A little better than hip walk. I own some Saba originals and the sound quality on those are magical. With that in mind this is very good.

Agree with all of the reviewers here - what a nice package and amazing sound quality remastered from the original analog master tapes. They even left a muting flaw in the track “Mister E” that existed on the master tape, and could only be fixed digitally, so they could keep it a true AAA analog recording and master. The insert is great as well. A+ all the way around and such an amazing album! This was my top jazz pick from record store day as well!

Ooooooooo this is really nice! Cheap, flat, clean out of the sleeve and gorgeously lush sounding. My second favorite Nathan Davis after the triple live set on Sam Records!
-
So happy with this release. It was at the top of my list for this past RSD and it does not disappoint. A stellar release, sound quality is amazing!
-
This is absolutely one stellar release! The quality of the pressing and the mastering is to die for! Highly recommended.

Edited one month agoOf all the Jazz releases this RSD this is the one I was most looking forward to and it does not disappoint in the least.
-
Absolutely perfect. One of the best releases I’ve heard in awhile. Sound is huge and 3D. Disc is flat, centered, dead quiet (without any cleaning), poly lined inner, etc. Why can’t this level of quality/cost be the standard?
