I love the sound but there are some issues with this pressing. Weird bumps and dents on side d. First record’s label is raised and not flat. Yet! I’m listening to this thing and it sounds fuckin’ awesome! Hearing stuff I never heard on the original cd when it came out. Very quiet for all the cosmetic defects it has. I was able to get this at my local shop on their vinyl discount day. First three tracks on side a have a lot of silent moments and I couldn’t hear a pop. Drums sound amazing. Bass is deep. The highs are clear and resonant. I just love this mix. You hear everything. Great pressing. Thank you Jemp!

Edited 10 months agoWhile the mastering itself sounds great and my pressing is quiet I have one issue. The laughter part at the end of side A. Mine cuts off at the last millisecond. Then when side B starts, that cutoff millisecond laughter part is heard right at the beginning. Has this happened to anyone else?

Not the quietest vinyl, sadly, but, through the ticks and pops here and there, the music sounds glorious.

Have seen it mentioned on a few online retailers, including rough trade, that this is limited to 1450 copies (maybe just the 2nd wave that's being sent out to indie stores?)

They need to issue more of these. There are tons of Farmhouse out there as well as Lawn Boy, and SOTG, but this one is scarce....

Edited one year agoSounds excellent and gatefold is a very nice presentation. The rough edge of vinyl detracts ever so slightly from the ritual of playing and storing the discs but I'm forgiving due to the mastering and pressing quality. Also paper sleeves just cause more of a need for cleaning. Very happy to have had the opportunity to buy this for retail price. A joyful and adventurous listen, 5 out of 5 from me.

Generally I feel the Chris Bellman cuts have been a big improvement sonically over the original CD's. Rift sounds the least impressive so far, it's good but I don't hear a big difference compared to the CD.

Edited one year agoHonestly impressed. Color vinyl pressed at GZ is always a toss up, but this is dead silent the entire way through. Flat and perfect. More silent than my UHQR. Thats for sure
The mastering is great. It is easily the best you will ever hear this album. -
Hype sticker: "Laquers cut from the original 1/2" flat masters by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering"
The item description on Dry Goods: "In late 2014, Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering cut the lacquers from the Digital Audio Tape flat master for the vinyl edition."
