Bought when this version was released a couple years back and I’ve been coming back to it a lot recently. The mastering sounds outstanding. As far as the pressing, it is a little noisy as others say, especially during houses in motion and the overload. But no defects on born under punches and plays pretty well otherwise. Good overall.
I’m curious to know how this holds up against the Kevin Gray cut. Any input on how this was sourced? -
I bought my copy a couple of years ago, but I was unaware of this issue. I took it out to examine and my white copy had the residue too. Luckily I also have a Pro-Ject VC-S3 Record Cleaning Machine. Two es through it and problem solved. It plays perfectly. Side B sounds terrific.

I prefer my snaps, crackles, and pops in the cereal bowl, rather than throughout this subpar pressing. The first minute of “The Overload” is especially bad.

Edited one year agoJust FYI, these are being sold at the Remain in Light tour shows, autographed by Harrison and Belew. I've not had a chance to listen to it yet, but I bought it for the memories more than the music. The original Japanese press is surely better.
That said, someone ought to do a really high quality press of this extraordinary album. -
Edited 2 years agoI truly believe that color Opaque LP's have issues... That's why they came up with the color translucent LP ... I almost never have issues with those see thru LP's and I bought like 100 of them from 2008 ... Something that happens when a black opaque gets colorized which I do not understand the process ... Spray paint LOL ? This LP came in white and black and if you read about the white copies vs the black no contest .... https://discogs.versitio.com/release/21098227-Leonard-Cohen-Songs-Of-Love-And-Hate

Edited one year agoMy copy has multiple skips on the first track of each side (Born Under Punches and Once In a Lifetime), there's also persistent pops and cackling throughout the rest of the record. Gonna try cleaning it.
Edit: Got it exchanged for another copy. There are no skips or pops, but there is cackling throughout the record, although it isn't awful. -
I just bought a new, sealed copy in Salem,Mass 3/9/23.
Lot of static electricity when I took it out of sleeve. The record plays great, no noise or skip issue at all.

Um I don't know how to get the star ratings on this web site .,.. So I will write a review... I got the noise warp copy... Right from the get go... Chris Bellman mastering never done before according to this site.. Kevin Gray did it first with the 2013 copy like most ... Where the hell was this WHITE NOISE COPY PRESSED ... RCD ??? Never make white records stick to black or translucent... Or maybe this has nothing to do with either... It's a freaking crap shoot and was sealed also ...

Just picked this one up last night, no issues accept the center hole is tight so getting off the turntable can be challenging. Beyond that no issues what so ever. Sounds amazing actually.

Mine has problems like the comments below, on side 2 track 1 (Once in a lifetime, of all tracks). I’m hoping the record store will replace it for me 🤞🏻
