Came for Grant Green, stayed for the whole group. Wow! This is the total package. Beautiful sound, expert musicianship, fantastic engineering, impeccable mastering and a nearly flawless pressing. This is why I love jazz on wax!

this is such a slept on BNC. Grant green sounds so crispy. Braith is at the TOP of his game as a recording artist; everything blends together fantastically. The last track on Side B is one of my favorite blue note tracks PERIOD.
Do yourself a favour and grab this on amazon for CHEAP. -
Every track is brilliant. A great album. An excellent reissue. If you have not got this record, get it.

BN Classics from Optimal are either awful or sublime. To report that my copy - and 1st at that - comes as the latter is a true pleasure. To achieve this at £16 is just wonderful. It is Grant Greens presence that intrigued me to listen to this online and at the low low price i had to dip. The mastering is really good, the recording one of BN's better of the time and KPG does it justice. Crucially, Optimal got the pressing right so its nice and flat, bang on centre and has but a mere handful of tics though the entire playback. Hallelujah!
If only they were all like this!!! -
For me, this is what reissues are all about; a fantastic album getting a new lease of life, giving a new audience chance to appreciate its class.

Wide soundstage, quiet pressing. Beautiful music, beautifully recorded. Every instrument is captured in full and vibrant sound, which is not always true on these Blue Note albums. Listen to the light taps and brushes on the cymbals: this is high fidelity audio. Braith is not the greatest technical sax player I've ever heard, but he is an emotional player, and I really appreciate that. The unusual instrumentation of organ and guitar adds a lot of interest. This record surprised me! Great album!
