There are some albums that show the change of their bands from the new wavey sound of the 80s to a much more dirty urban 90s one and Zooropa is the one that always comes to mind. People "blame" this change of sound to Brian Eno, but I credit the whole band for this switch to Happy Mondays territory... which actually is not that much so, but the band adopting the same influences: Krautrock mainly. Anyway, just wrote these words to highlight my favourite of the U2 songs, "Lemon", a hit then, a hit now, a bassline for the ages, Bono singing in falsetto and something that looks closer to Bowie's experiments of the 90s. The 90s were really good at kicking these bands experimental leanings and I miss them so much for it.

A great album! To me, the background effects stand out more and enrich the songs further. Watch out for the end of side B... might be alarming to some.
