Soul jazz masterpiece from 1972. Foster's long, flowing solos sound fantastic, and the album is one funky groove after another. Standouts include "Chunky", "Mystic Brew" and the title track. Great pressing too, with the combined talents of Rudy Van Gelder behind the recording desk and Kevin Gray mastering this beauty onto vinyl some 50 years later. My copy was purchased new and it's flawless, dead silent, zero surface noise, and sounds wonderful.

Edited one year agoAdding to what has already been mentioned, the pressing is really nice, flat and quiet, with lots of presence and dynamic in the grooves. Layout is solid too.
As for the music: if you're into organ jazz, this is very consistent musicianship and good vibes 70's sound worth checking out, though it doesn't stray from the formula and probably won't blow your mind. -
Really fine release. Flat, clean, no surface noise, dynamic, clear and funky. Ronnie rocks the house. Buy it, if you get a chance to.

Excellent. Music drips cool vibes. Bass is extremely present and I’m happy about that. In all, the remaster is loud which complements this record and the compositions. I’m very happy.

This is OK music and an OK-sounding record. It is nothing special. As usual, it is by no means silent or totally quiet...very few if any vinyl records are. It is a quiet pressing, but not silent. There is audible background noise that you will hear if you like to listen with the volume turned up. As usual with this sort of thing, I prefer the originals to the covers, which sometimes come off as very high-class elevator music. I have a record by Boogaloo Joe Jones that I got through VMP a while ago and this reminds me very strongly of that record.

Blue Note Classic Vinyl and Tone Poet series continue to put out amazing reissues. Check this out if you haven't already.

My copy is flat, centered and defects free; no distortion and no surface noise. Warm sound, detailed with a pretty big soundstage, a very treat for the ears.
The music is stellar, (imho) a must have for early ‘70s groovy Soul-Jazz / Jazz-Funk lovers.
