What an amazing remastering of a classic fusion record! Amazing sound - wide and deep soundstage. All the frequencies are presented with great clarity. The rhythm section (bass, drums and percussion) played at the right volume, makes my listening room groove.

It’s great to hear into that 70s soul and light funk musical excursion of DB. 100% entertaining and digestible but to my knowledge it is not jazz in which genre the album continues to be categorized. The sound is fine from the well pressed vinyl record. Recommendable.

This was a perfect pressing for me, no excessive noise, no non-fill, flat.
Never heard this one before, and I didn't expect all the vocals, but I enjoyed it.
Nice to have an inner sleeve. -
Just AB'd with my OG Terre Haute - both are excellent. I think it really comes down to your preference as a listener. Kevin Gray definitely bumped up the highs on this release, which serves some songs beautifully ("You And The Music") and makes some sound a bit harsh (the title track). For $10.00 on the Acoustic Sounds store, though, it's pretty hard to argue with this pressing - audiophile quality, quiet vinyl, and a pretty faithful reproduction of the original artwork (this one's a bit more saturated).

This is still going for $9.95 on AcousticSounds-incredible value! Get it while you can!

Edited one year agoI had no idea what to expect from this record. First time ever hearing it. It's definitely not jazz. I don't know what it is exactly, but it's not jazz. Whatever it is, it is vastly entertaining. The little trumpet licks Byrd throws in so nonchalantly are remarkable.
Sometimes "jazz" covers of Motown songs sound uncomfortably like elevator music. Not this time. This version of "Just My Imagination" departs so significantly from the original that it stands as a separate piece of music, and one that is very enjoyable to hear.
Sounds great; vinyl is quiet. Soundstage is narrower than I would have expected recording a big ensemble like this. Nice pressing and nice packaging, but I wish they had lined that inner sleeve.
This makes me want to hear much more of what Byrd was doing in the 70s. -

Bhought this when it was realesed, and damn it is good! However, mine came in a printed paper inner sleeve, and as most times some scuffs with just some minor audioble defect. Bhought a second copy of Herbie Hancock - Takin' Off, and to my suprise that one was now in a polylined inner and was as perfect as a record can be. Does anyone got this realesed in polylined inner sleeve?

Flawless pressing, amazing sound... Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series is severely addictive.
No audio or reproduction issues, none, zero, nada. Recommended!
