Gil Scott-Heron – Moving Target

i bought the vinyl back then and rediscovered it some months ago, when i bought a 3 cd box with 3 albums with the incredible amnesia express band. these guys knew how to groove funky!
moving target is a joy from start to end and is for me his best from this period, would be nice to get a decent live recording from this time.
it is mostly jazz funk and 2 reggae inspired tunes, which also have a funky vibe.
great, clear production.
each of the musicians are top notch, listen to the bass alone put a smile on me.
gil scott heron was like the malcom x of the music, a spokesman for black people in the us, but also as a white one can tune in to his critics of us politics.
compare that with blingbling rappers...
he is missed very much.

It was so hard to remove the Red Lp from the paper insert, which created so much static. Everything was good after a cleaning. I also store the album in a proper inner sleeve as well. Love the sound quality. Not like a Tone Poet pressing, but above average....8.0/10

Unlike some of the other recent RSD releases from Gil Scott-Heron, this album sounds amazing. Don't know how the original pressings were mastered, but this one is worth grabbing.

Sounds flawless, one of the best sounding records I own. If you love Gil and see this at a shop as leftover stock from RSD, buy it WITH CONFIDENCE!
My only gripe is that the disc was quite hard to get out of the inner sleeve, which is apparently an issue with previous pressings by Culture Factory. Misprint on the label doesn’t bother me, although I do find it very funny that the Arista logo is edited off the label design.

I wasn’t familiar with this particular GSH record, but I’m glad I took a gamble. The material is solid, funky, thought provoking, and nicely recorded. My pressing sounds great: flat, silent, and punchy. If you’re a GSH fan but don’t own this record, grab it while the price is reasonable.

$14.99 at my local store. This is a great sounding version of this album, and it replicates the original LP release (complete with a printed inner sleeve too). I'm glad that these Gil-Scott Heron albums are being reissued once again, and I hope it's a trend that continues. I'd love to own his entire 1970's output (including his albums with Brian Jackson) on CD.

Late to the RSD party, but happened to see this album had been ed over, which is crazy. This is a terrific record: good pressing, excellent music. Agree with other reviews saying this is a solid pressing (and the misprint on the side B label is hilarious).

Glad to have this and it’s an impressive pressing. A quick wipe down took care of some debris on the disc. Very shocked at how flimsy the jacket is.

The LP sounds really good and is pressed flat and quiet (although I always clean records before I play them... even new LPs). The center label has a misprint, as it lists 'Fast Lane' on both Side 1 and Side 2. Other than that, this is a solid pressing of a great GSH album.

Is the seller rhgp one of those scummy shit smears I was warned about when I was just a lad? (asking for a friend…)
