I suspect that when the venerable Bernie Grundman remastered this that he did so digitally, and that this 24-Bit / 192-kHz release is a direct copy of the result. I could be wrong, of course, he might have remastered it at 32-Bit / 382-kHz, or DSD, etc.

In any case, it sounds like it was recorded in 2024, not in 1961 (63 years ago). Great job Mr. Grundman on yet another victory. Recommended!

I think the surface noise you guys are hearing is dirt. I wet cleaned mine and it seems to be mostly gone.

As stated below, better than the standard 2022 Candid pressing. But the sound isn't that much different to my ears. The Pure Pleasure is just more transient in the high end and Lincoln's voice sounds closer and more powerful. Although, if you had the Candid I'm sure you'd be happy with it. That is if you can find one that plays quietly. Mine isn't too awful but it has a rumbly background and has some "sandpaper" ages. 100% recommend the Pure Pleasure pressing!

This edition, too, is a needle drop, but unlike the early West German(same digital transfer)no barcode edition, this is wide open, and does not suffer from peak distortion. Likely taken from acetate.

It's important to note that somewhere along the way artists started taking their master tapes rather than leaving them to the mercy of corporate execs, so the pilfering of those priceless reels has been going on for a very long time.

Grabbed this after listening to a friends recent 2022 recent rsd release of this on candid. There is no comparison between the two. This pressing presents a better remaster and a better pressing. I gotta say, I’ve never heard a bad pure pleasure release. Great stuff

It's a nice version. Sounds really good but it's pretty quiet.

Not centered and has background noise. These seem to be on markdown at a few places, could be a good deal if found for cheap but I wouldn’t pay more than $12
