Kavinsky – Outrun

Some things are weird in the details of those EU Outrun pressings (this one and also this https://discogs.versitio.com/release/19760467-Kavinsky-Outrun) :
- "Side A ends with a locked groove."
-> I've listened to end of both sides of my copy and there are no music/sound at the end, so it's not a locked groove. The spiral on both sides ends in a loop to avoid the stylus to go onto the sticker label, like 99,99% of the vinyl records. We should remove this information as it seems wrong.

"Matrix / Runout (Runout sIde A Etched): MPO REC86LTD A
Matrix / Runout (Runout sIde B Etched): MPO REC86LTD B"
-> Those etchings look uncomplete or maybe wrong, cause it doesn't show what we can see on the 7th pics of this release ([MPO logo]® 21 229239). So Maybe those folwwing etchings we have from this release (https://discogs.versitio.com/release/22372417-Kavinsky-Outrun) should be here instead :
Stamp on matrix side B can be any of:
- [MPO logo]® 21 212068
- [MPO logo]® 21 229239

Here is all I can read on my copy :
Matrix / Runout (Runout side A): MPO REC86LTD A +1 BM86338-01 A1
Matrix / Runout (Runout side B): (Etched): MPO REC 86LTD B BM86338-01 B1 v+ (or maybe +1 reversed) w+ BV-BNJ

So I've no idea which one of the 2013 or 2021 releases I've just bought yesterday :) (... but I suspect it's a 2021 misprint reissue in fact)

Otherwise, regarding what Tytanium76G reported below, I can confirm he sadly got a bad batch pressing, My copy is absolutely fine, no scratch at all on the surface of the vinyl.

-> Do you really have those etchings and only those ones on your copy ? Cause I think these are more the ones from 2013 repress.

Also, 1st track title "Prelude" is misprinted on back cover of my copy, the "l" is missing so it reads "Pre ude".

So my assumption is that this "2021 repress" is in fact a "2021 misprint reissue" as etchings are completely different and we have this misprinted track "Pre ude" on back cover. h0l0cau5to : You spotted a good point in the history of the 2013 release, as you wrotte your comment 11 months ago, I think we both have the same release.

This here is not about the music itself, but about this pressing.
The pressing quality itself is really good.

The master they have chosen to press on this is, well, questionable.
If not just a nightmare.

Horrible compressed to the absolute maximum. I do not get why they did that, but it sounds more like a mp3 CD with music ripped by kazaa in the early 2000s than a good record. I‘m listening to it again now, and it is just bad.

It causes ear fatigue!

I heard two other records before in one session, and they were also not any „audiophile stuff“… but they sounded so much better than this record.

Compressed is really the word in my opinion for this one here.

Was there a 2022 repress? It says [MPO logo]® 22 260614 on side B on my copy, everything else is the same. The record sounds amazing!

Nice pressing and surprisingly high dynamic range. Worth each penny.

Must've got a pressing from a bad batch. Dang! There's significant scratches at the edge of side B which make the record unplayable. Unfortunately it's at the beginning of Nightcall too, one of Kavinsky's highlights. The rest of the album is fine. It's quiet with very few clicks and pops. Digital mastering leads to a restricted sounding vinyl, but has more life than it's CD and mp3 counterparts. Great album, but got unlucky with this pressing.

Most likely a digital master but it sounds great! Clean flat pressing. Dynamic with a nice full sound and at a decent price!
