I got a copy for sale. Text me if you are interested. NM/NM condition! -
I found a basically mint copy of this at a thrift store for 1$... Never got so much sound for that money. Its a demo-record!

some strange noise throughout record, typical for PGP RTB even if visually record is fine... -

A majestic timepiece. Misunderstood and derided at the time of its release, it now sits atop a heap of 80s electronic pop, with vision, finesse and classical qualities, unparalleled. -
Who the f*** decided to fade out the volume on THE RACE 12"? Makes no sense at all since the original 12" ended perfectly. Ruins the whole experience!!!!

Edited 4 years agoIf they really HAD to put "Tied Up in Red" on this, they should've moved "Alhambra" or "Otto Di Catania" to side 1 - that would've given approximately 24 minutes each side. Not idea, but better than 27-28 minutes on one side. I've got the original European pressing that leaves out "Tied Up in Red" but I do have the song on the 12" single of "Tied Up".
I'd like to hear how this one sounds though, if anyone has it and the original? -
Edited 4 years agoAgree - I had similar concerns on Stella, and squeezing a quieter Vicious Games 12" mix at end side b was a misjudgement there, I feel. If they wanted to include a bonus on side b here, Wall Street Bongo would've done just fine!
Update 2/4/21: finally got a copy and whilst Side 2 is pushing it I am impressed with the flatness/centrality of the pressing, and both sides are at the same volume. In Red and In Gear overlay slightly so it works as one very long dubby version (like the original CD). On Stella the bonus 12" mix Vicious Games seemed louder than the album, but that doesn't happen here.
Still would've preferred Wall Street Bongo as bonus end of side 2, but this is still a nice item/pressing. -
The B side looks awfully crammed from here with 27 mins of music? I wonder if that was a good idea, I'd much prefer if they'd made a second disc with extras instead, B4, + 13 mins The Race + Wall Street Bongo?

i noticed a mastering error in this cd. there is a small tick of no music for about a quarter of a second in the first song at the '2:45' mark. i owned about 3 different copies of this cd over the years and every single copy had that small tick in it at exactly the same time on every cd player i ever played this on. Obviously there was problem in the recording process of this cd and it was released without being tested. So it's not a 'skip' in your cd, it was a mastering error.. i just thought id share this info...this applies to the 1989 Canadian Vertigo release only.
