Notes
Aftermath is the fourth British and sixth American studio album by the English rock band the Decca.
It was issued in the United States in June 1966 by London Records as the group's sixth American album. The album is considered an artistic breakthrough for the band: it is the first to consist entirely of Mick Jagger–Keith Richards compositions, while Brian Jones played a variety of instruments not usually associated with their music, including sitar, Appalachian dulcimer, marimbas and Japanese koto, as well as guitar, harmonica and keyboards, though much of the music is still rooted in Chicago electric blues. It was the first Rolling Stones album to be recorded entirely in the US, at the RCA Studios in California, and their first album released in true stereo. It is also one of the earliest rock albums to eclipse the 50-minute mark, and contains one of the earliest rock songs to eclipse the 10-minute mark ("Goin' Home").
In August 2002 both editions of Aftermath were reissued in a new remastered CD and SACD digipak by ABKCO Records, with the UK version containing an otherwise unavailable stereo mix of "Mother's Little Helper". In the same year the US edition of Aftermath was ranked No. 109 on the List of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The album was included in Robert Dimery's 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

I have a copy of this album which is the same in nearly all aspects to this entry, except the the labels are red. The cover appears to be the same without the black border around the blurb and track listing on the back. The runout has 1W (?) after the XZAL 7209/7210. The writing around the labels, ie "Original Recording....." and "Made in Australia by....", etc are in a smaller font. The boxed Decca on the labels doesn't have Reg'd beneath it. There is no date of issue anywhere to be seen. Is this another variant?

I thought this was a remake of the original first UK stereo releases. The label looks like the mono label in blue. Between The Buttons (UK) released 2023 has the stereo label as I know it. Am I missing something? -
My copy best matches this description, however my runout has the etching "ARL-7259-171" or perhaps the 171 is actually 1H, very hard to tell as its handwritten.

These sacd’s of the Stones are great. The sound on them is superb. Pick up these when you find them.
-
A good mastering and pressing . The sub bass is noticable here especially paint it black . Overall a good buy for the US version of Aftermath . Most of the ABKCO Digitally Remastered 80s and 90s are worth to get . Black translucent black vinyl which may be from JVC or Quiex pressings .

Pitch a little off but very nice mono copy! end. -
I have variant 3 and this one sounds very good and clear and vibrant. I don’t have a UK OG to compare it to but like it better than the UK ABKCO stereo as it sounds a bit fresher. Cut a lot hotter than the recent US ABKCO Stereo . I know the length of the album has something to do with the lack of umph. This is my stereo favorite.

Even in its bastardized American form, AFTERMATH is a classic album. This 1966 mono US pressing boasts a full bodied soundstage with plenty of low end and good clarity to the instrumentation. My copy plays nice and clean with occasional light surface noise.
