..you go out to the country to visit relatives; you see they have 50-60 old vinyl LP that many are on labels you've never heard of before and that they live so much in the past that they have no internet nor computers and won't let you bring those records back with you so you can submit them (the telephone is still disc dial). Very frustrating and I am planning on visiting them again soon but staying over a long weekend so I can at least write all info down.

Instead of using the little time to yourself, doing a bit of bedtime book reading. You check forums and check/edit your inventory, in the dark under an evil electronic glow...
When you find yourself staring at a Discogs page you opened on in 1.5 secs autopilot; when you meant to open your text messages. When you list cd's for sale that you'd never have parted with til death do us part last year, to improve your inventory!

...you have a dream ing Discogs (as already mentioned in the famous list). On one occasion I had to go to hospital to get my wisdom teeth out and I had to be put under a general anesthetic. Before the procedure the nurse asked me if I had any questions and I asked "do people dream under a general anesthetic?" The nurse stated she didn't know. I was put under and then had a dream about editing this artist page (yes, it did happen to me and it was that aptly named page out of all the artist pages in Discogs). I then woke up and groggily informed the nurse "people can dream whilst under the knife". I've had other Discogs dreams, but the one described above is the most memorable.

When your on here hopin for a over night sale b4 u've even boiled the kettle at 6.30am. And said 5 mins ago in another thread you had to stop waffeling in forums, As you've got 9.7mb of mobile net to last till Friday. And you dive straight back in. No self-restraint works! Silverleaf it's true it's bad if it's negatively affecting your life, but it was a very important topic to get worked up and care about. Your not losing sleep over a fullstop being used instead of a comma or something (well you might be!)

eep - how much do you go through in a day just on forums alone?
you may want to save some should you get an order, otherwise your customer may get impatient if you are unable to respond. :s

How much do i use bringing down the tone and intelligence of Discogs? :) Well I definitly use -alot- less bytes if i untick/don't load images from my settings! Makes internet a little less colourful and alive, but needs must when your culitvating a addiction. And obviously i need to see images for annoying things like Captcha +seeing how rubbish my (cropped to within an inch of identification) latest avatar looks! This comment, was clearly not life or death. I'd never survive war (if internet was rationed!)

M_A, I completely agree that it's a very important topic. But the only ones that can implement any change in the marketplace couldn't be bothered to make even 1 post there. More than just sad.

Several very good points were raised... to no avail.

I think i said somewhere in that sizable thread that is a dangerous topic (a minefield if you will) Each time i posted i felt a bit sick incase somebody came back at me all shouty. Cowardness and silence is much safer (+'believe it or not' is my usual mode all2often) It's such a volatile topic that althought i'm sure Staffers've strong opinions on the matter. But I suspect if Discogs staff had/have lawyers, they'd probably advise them2keep hush+protect the empire (if you will). No one man can change it SL

For what it's worth (and i know this doesn't change or absolve the big issues one iota) I have a feeling you've much feelings of RESPECT towards you from other Discoger's. I certainly do not trivialise your efforts. I don't know how to solve it. All we can do ourselves in our own lifes is give a little mutual respect. (not saying switch off and stop caring) But Try be at ease for an evening. Enjoy a cuppa. Don't burn yourself out Warrior dude :)

People - speak in proper sentences!! Not Comments made up of wall to wall Txt language *shed's a tear of joy*

Typos do happen though! But most discogs s are such perfectionist you get 6 emails of someone editing their post to utter correct'edness. It bothers me too! But I've tried to stop doing that edit edit edit! What's worse a few typos or multiple near identical emails? I'm actually torn!
