It probably the record shop database one - some folks from Discogs got an invite to test / contribute and now it looks like it's about to be let loose for everyone! -

A Discogs-style video game database would be excellent. I have boxes full of Game Boy carts that I am itching to catalog! I wonder if Garfield Labyrinth, The Real Ghostbusters and Mickey Mouse IV would be eligible for the same Master Release... -

How is something like Filmogs comparable to IMDB?
Books, Lego, movies, computer games ... the lsit goes on. DBs exist for each and every category of collectibles already. IMDB has been in the business for almost 25 years and is owned by Amazon. IMDB is actually part of the PR-strategies of big productions. Sure, it's not a Discogs-style marketplace. But credits and artwork... IMDB is industry-standard. For Hollywood, anyway. And yes, it's possible to build collections on there. -

Bookogs is probably an unnecessary site, since Librarything.com already exists. If you have a Librarything hip, Bookogs wouldn't have any real advantage unless your Bookogs collection and your Discogs collection can be integrated into a single collection accessible from each site. A search for Art Pepper, for example, would turn up both Art Pepper records (from Discogs) and the autobiography Straight Life (from Bookogs).
Also, Abebooks and Alibris already allow a search for books across multiple sellers. They would provide substantial competition for any proposed Bookogs marketplace.
Also, wouldn't Bibliogs make a better name? -
Show this post
Although the way things have been going for me this week, I'm going to find myself in hot water for pointing people to the competition when they are just about to launch Bibliogs. -
Show this post
a beta version of the gear site is also live already, btw. I don't know if it's "invite-only". The message from nik was clearly a mass mail as teo's message regarding vinylhub. I'd imagine there's also a beta site for filmogs or whatever it's called. -

It's their business and they will do whatever they want / feel like.
However, I'm on the side with those voicing their concerns about the ongoing imperfections on this here site.
Neither the idea of "Filmogs" nor "Bibliogs" makes me jump in the air...there's hardly people outside of Bulgaria that would care for some 1995 print of Nick Cave "And the ass saw the angel" in a language none but 6-10 milion people can read globally.
My tupence.

It's almost like I already mentioned that myself. So you wanna re-build the credits for movies from scratch, in competition against a global Alexa rank Top 50 website?
ps: I don't collect movies, so I'm probably a bit biased. -

When I first went on to the site there was only a few films listed, but it was just film credits without any mention of a format they were on, now I've just had a look and there are some DVD's been added which makes a difference.
I didn't really take much notice when I visited because films aren't my thing, and my invite to the beta site was probably wasted.

About Armogs
We're on a mission to build the biggest and most comprehensive weapons database and marketplace. Imagine a site with inventories of all manufacturers, all cross-referenced, and an international marketplace built off of that database. It's for the love of war, and getting closer every day.
The Database
The heart of Armogs is a -built database of weapons. More than 199,000 people have contributed some piece of knowledge, to build up a catalog of more than 5,100,000 weapons and 3,400,000 munitions. We're far from done and you can contribute too! Armogs also offers the ability to catalog your armory, wantlist, and share your ratings and reviews.
The Marketplace
The Armogs Marketplace connects buyers and sellers across the globe. With more than 10 million items available and thousands of sellers, this is the premier spot from the newest developements to hard to find gems. Because the Marketplace is built on top of the accurate Armogs database, it is easy for sellers to list their inventory and buyers are able to specify the exact version they want.

Let's define "record shop". Is it a shop that only sells vinyl with a few CDs and tapes in the back corner? Or is it any old thrift shop/antique store that has a section for records?

Vinylhub has gotten an interface makeover recently.
Works pretty good on my phone too.
Now if we could use the phones camera to add snapshots of the new shops as we discover them. To make it a 'virtual tour' of the place. Could help make (or break) the decision to visit the location(s) if its going to be a long sidetrip. -

I understand your concerns. Although we are experimenting with some "mini-discogs" it is still our #1 priority to make Discogs the best it possibly can be. Whether it be improving features or making the site faster and more available, we're constantly working on it and that won't change.
