Compas Music Description
Compas (Haitian Creole: Konpa Dirèk), is a dance music and modern Méringue of Haiti. The genre was popularized following the creation of Ensemble Aux Callebasses in (1955). Compas is a common music style with regional versions in many countries including the Dominica and the French Antilles. This méringue style is influential in parts of Africa, the Caribbean, Portugal, , part of Canada, South and North America.
