Edited 3 months agoThe surface noise at the very end of Echoes is horrible. I guarantee that noise will not be there on CD. I'm going to try to pick up a Japanese pressing of the cd. Got the 2017 Japanese cd. It blows this out of the water the difference is so severe it's embarrassing. Mr. Grundman you need to go back to the drawing board

Just pulled this out...It is flat, next to zero surface noise, and I have got to agree with others here it sounds damn good (albeit a thicker presentation (as with most of todays pressings), the stage is wide, and the depth is nice) on my modest set-up...
(Fluance RT-82 w/Acrylic Platter, ATN-XP cart/5 stylus. Nobsound T3 Phono Amp, Aiyima A07 Pro, Kicker KB6B, & 2x Polk PSW10 Subs...Simple Low Cost Setup)...Happy Listening -
Bought brand new sealed. Mastering is top notch (another great job by BG), pressing is also very well done (the best I’ve heard from all the Floyd’s 2016 reissues with Atom Heart Mother). I had the chance to compare it with my 1983 Harvest Canadian repress: the 1983 is recorded a few DB louder and is way brighter and more forward sounding than this 2016 reissue. I hear a tad bit more soundstage width on this 2016 version, but also a tad bit less depth. This 2016 is far more laidback, smoother and fuller sounding than the 1983. The 1983 is definitely sharper, thinner, more incisive, more airy and more “raw”. Maybe the 1983 is more in-line with the atmosphere / artist view of this album (maybe), I don’t know… Despite I like both versions, this 2016 remaster is more pleasant to my ears and it will fit better into brighter systems for sure. I don’t hear the Side 2’s distortion as reported by many others. I’m pretty happy with my copy. 4.75 / 5

Bought a 2016 BG version today from Barnes and Noble. Side 1 looked flawless. Side 2... covered in smudges. I cleaned it thoroughly and got all but 1 of the smudges removed. Small one right at the beginning of the song where it's all nice and quiet. You can hear it every time the needle crosses it. After about a minute it's absolutely fine. And boy does it sound good. Too bad because Echoes is a favorite. It's getting returned.

I bought a new copy in my local record store (near San Francisco) yesterday, and the sound quality on both sides is great (no pressing issues). It is also the quietest record that I have heard in of background noise.

Whoa I am not a fan of that gatefold. I don’t like how they put type print all over two of the . Makes their shirts look like graphic T’s. Sound is pretty good but it didn’t blow me away or expose anything I hadn’t heard before
-
I guess I lucked out, my pressing sounds pretty awesome. Not flawless necessarily, a couple crackles here and there but nothing bad. Remaster sounds excellent. No complaints here!
-
Out of all the Pink Floyd reissues I’ve gotten, this is easily the best sounding. I don’t have any other copies to compare this to, but this copy is clear, balanced, and dynamic. Beautiful record.

Side 2 like many others has a few pops and crackles at the very first during the sonar pings. After that it is very clean and sounds awesome. Side 1 is flawless.
