The new Theatre Edition unearths a trio of unreleased recordings: "Tomorrow Was Today," "Good Godmother," and a different arrangement of "WarChild" recorded after the version on the final album.
- Original album and bonus tracks (three previously unreleased),
- 10 orchestral pieces (nine previously unreleased) written for the film's soundtrack,
- Flat transfers of the original LP mix at 96/24, and the quadrophonic version (with 2 bonus tracks) in 4.0.
- "The Third Hoorah" promo footage, and footage from a January 1974 photo session/press conference where the WarChild project was announced.
- An 80-page booklet featuring an extensive article on the preparation and recording of the album, a film script synopsis, track-by-track annotations by Ian Anderson, plus rare and unseen photographs.
Fans intrigued by the appearance of "WarChild Waltz" on the 2002 reissue of WarChild will finally get the chance to hear the rest of the mostly orchestral music the band recorded for the soundtrack album. About 30 minutes was recorded during sessions in 1973 and 1974. Soon after, the music was consigned to the archives for 40 years - until now. "WarChild Waltz" appears on this release under the title "Waltz Of The Angels".

this is a great ultimate deluxe 2 cd/ 2 dvd set of war child from 1974, i have the first 7 tull deluxe sets in this format and they are all really nice & the steve wilson mixes sound fantastic!!!!! the packaging is the best, top notch and the 2 cds & 2 dvds are loaded with everything from these 1974 sessions.... quad mixes you name it, the booklet as with the first 6 titles is thick and loaded w/ info.... i say this is great for any ULTRA TULL fan & for that reason only but if you want this as an investment i guess that is ok to... once in a while i get lucky & these do pop up at a decent price so when they do I GRAB IT RIGHT AWAY. got a brand new copy of war child... real happy........

Edited 3 years agoThis is yet another definitive release of a somewhat underwhelming 1970s Jethro Tull release. It is now out of print like most of these “book” Tull editions and has greatly escalated in price. If you have to have it, you will need to pay through the nose from a reseller, as it will never be rereleased per Ian Anderson.
At this time, it is more of a collectible or an investment vehicle than an essential listening experience. With the stock market and bitcoin crashing, this War Child book edition might be the place to put your retirement money.
