Edited one year agoI bought the box set brand new, and DVD #2 (which is in its own pocket inside the book) had a lot of marks right out of the box. I exchanged it for another copy, and this one has even more marks than the first one. Both are 2023 represses, which are identical to the 2017 release. Is there a channel to provide to the manufacturer? It shouldn't be the case that DVDs are VG condition right out of the box.

Burning Shed are listing represses (available from 8th Dec 2023) of
Songs From The Wood The Country Set - £28.99
Minstrel In The Gallery La Grande Edition - £23.99
Aqualung Adapted Edition - £23.99 -
One of my favorite Tull albums ever, and one of their best: it displays Tull at their absolute best.
-
When this came out numerous buyers complained on Amazon about problems, I think the DVD skipped or something. This set sold out in no time, so I assume that a good part of the print run has been trashed.
Unlike THICK AS A BRICK (where the entire first run of the DVD skipped and a replacement disc was offered) it appears that only a limited number of these sets are faulty, and there is no way to tell until you play them. -
Edited 3 years agoThis is the definitive release of perhaps the most popular late 1970s Jethro Tull album. It seems to have had a more limited release than the other “book” Tull editions. If you have to have it, you will need to pay through the nose from a reseller, as it will never be rereleased per Ian Anderson.
At this time, it is more of a collectible or an investment vehicle than an essential listening experience. By comparison, the vinyl is dollar box material and the MFSL CD is a bargain. With the stock market and bitcoin crashing, this Songs from the Wood book edition might be the place to put your retirement money. -
-
Edited 3 years agoThere's a reason why this is by far the most expensive of all the Jethro tull boxes?
Aqualung and Thick as a Brick are older and yet easyer to find at a reasonable price (under 250€). -
these Steven Wilson book sets are amazing. I'm so glad I got in at the beginning and picked up each as they were released. It is baffling that the label has not kept these in print or at least an additional pressing or two the prices for these have skyrocketed to insanity levels. As of today for this particular set the lowest price ever paid on Discogs was $173 USD, Highest $357 USD. Lowest current offering price $222 USD and highest (for sealed mint) is $1,106 ! Yikes! Time to repress these starting with Benefit reconfigured in a Book Edition to match the others!
-
Absolutely amazing remix! Steven Wilson has done it again and shows us how amazing the good old compact disc can sound. You get the impression the musicians are playing right in front of you. This is a must buy, not only for any Tull fan but for every lover of good music.
