Faith No More, aware of the enourmous potential of their singer, rely on his mature expressiveness to enter into the new decade. Abandoned explicit irony and madness of the previous album, the music of the band is transformed into a melancholic insanity with a solid atmospheric foundation (mostly obscure) and an original melodic research (more emphatic and tragic than in the past). Mike Patton mutable personality directs the music to intense melodies, without losing impact, energy and a bit of fun. Angel Dust worth is beyond the fact that from its womb will born the best ideas of alternative metal (particularly nu metal ones), because its perfect mix of funky rhythmic and metal heaviness is elevated by one of the most emotive and creative voice of that period. Angel Dust represents Mike Patton's conquest of Faith No More sound.
