I don’t have an OG to compare, but I’m so glad I picked this up. This sounds absolutely RIDICULOUS. The bass is massive, but the piano still cuts through and Nina’s voice is so detailed it’s like you’re sitting right next to her. Vinyl is clean with barely any noise. High praise on this one.

I see lots of high praise but wondering if anyone can comment about the sound quality of this vs. OG. I have an OG but plays a VG+ to VG.. I generally tend to like OG versions of records since no matter how good of a pressing or mastering engineer, the tape is old and lack's punch in relation to OG's.. wondering if anything is preserved or made better than the OG. Thanks.

Edited one year agoNever thought I'd say this about a Pure Pleasure reissue, but I prefer this over my AP 45 and recent Kevin Gray mastered BMG stereo versions.

Stunning! Possibly the best sounding record I own. If you're sitting on the fence, just get a copy! You won't be disappointed.

Everything has been said below and I corroborate the words : very high-flying mono recording here.
Thanks to Pure Pleasure Records for reviving this sublime recording originally released by Bethlehem.
For those who haven't had the chance, like me, to own the original, it's an invaluable bargain.
The pressing is exemplary. Flat and ultra-quiet disc. A delight. -
Pressing is flat and no pops or clicks. However it sounds very flat, the piano and the voice are not forward enough.
Get the more recent Bethlehem release that was mastered by Kevin Grey, it sounds much better.

Just superb, sounds amazing.
Heart-wrenching performances. When you put on side B, it'll make a whole room go silent at the power of Nina's piano. -
I agree with lldwig79. I have a stereo version as well and like other stereo LP's of that period it is poorly done and irritating. The MONO is the way to go, sound and music is exceptional!
