I got pretty fucked up last night and put this on around 1am and I literally out of bodied to this. They’re totally out in their own orbit; the structures and thought forms they reveal are so beautifully intelligent, bold and vivid.
And it’s a beautifully recorded and mastered. -
Absolutely fantastic pressing of a 'must have' Mingus album. The vinyl is dead silent. The instruments are clear and the soundstage is amazing. This one is highly recommended.

A wonderful release from one of the greatest bassists. This is a great audiophile release in Impulse. The pressing is dead silent and the staging is fantastic. A must-have if you are into Mingus

This is a stellar pressing. Low noise, everything is clear and distinct and it sounds amazing.
Excellent addition to the collection. -
While I am not a huge Mingus fan, I do very much enjoy this album. The band is so vibrant, and the energy of their music is electric. The yells and shouts of the players in the background complement the playing well. In addition to the great tunes, this pressing is fantastic! My copy was perfectly flat and centered, with zero detectable surface noise. Really helped bring the performance to life. No notes, easily a 5/5 for me personally.

What can I say -- The band sounds incredible, Mingus is at his finest. This edition doesn't disappoint in any way. Beautifully thick gatefold outer sleeve, poly QRP inner. The sound? Unbeatable. Fabulous stereo imaging, perfect clarity. Details abound. If you love this album -- get this version! Superlative in every way.

Another great release by all involved, first and foremost Charles Mingus and his ensemble. Impulse for the original recording and Acoustic Sounds and Ryan K Smith at Sterling for a beautiful mastering of this release. Beautiful stereo image, texture and detail in the instruments and dynamic range from the low, mids and high frequencies

Despite this being recorded around the same time as The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady (my first & favorite Mingus album), I had never given this album its due. Received my copy today and have absolutely no regrets. Excellent Acoustic Sounds quality as usual 'inside and out'... as well as being yet another fantastic romp of a Mingus session!

Damn, this sounds so good. What a time to live in, when there's reissues like this one and all of the ones from the Acoustic Sounds Series I've heard so far.
