Few tracks from the big beat constituency convey action and excitement as convincingly as "Atom Bomb" - the elusive south-east trio’s only Top 20 hit, carrying surefooted film and video game appeal (as well as appearing on MTV’s ‘Amp’ compilation). The key ingredients – rhythms, effects and brutal bassline – are Fluke’s driving forces, ed by whispered words (“22 mega tons, never seen so much fun”) to lend the atmosphere full expression.

The entire Risotto album sees those musical aces – energy, flair, pace, youthful spirit, technological innovation – all played to the nth degree.

This album still drives me insane after all this years, timeless masterpiece of electronica.

When the hell is this masterpiece going to be repressed on vinyl? Seriously?! What is taking so long...?

A solid album of its time. I find it weird that Fluke didn't manage to dip into the same market as Underworld. "Risotto" barley managed to scrape the chart in the UK, while Underworld's albums stayed in it for months on end in the 90's.

Probably my favorite electronic album of all time, finally acquired it on vinyl. Thrown it on a couple times already and fallen in love with it again. So many textures you can discover in the mix. All the cuts just buzz, whir, rattle and hum perfectly. Mostly everyone will the huge swingers, Atom Bom and Absurd. But the true gems remain to be Bermuda and Setback - just gorgeous arrangements and atmosphere. Highest possible recommendation.

Listened to it for the first time in years, it's as great as it was in 1997. Unbelievable, most of the music from back than sound so dated now, this album does not. Everybody should own this. Sound reminds me of old Crystal Method as in Vegas, maybe that is because I listened to both at the same time period extensively.

Fluke were initially part of my "Holy Trinity" of progressive house acts in the early 90s, along with Leftfield and Underworld. Everyone's heard of the other two, so why are Fluke so criminally under-recognised? Like the others, they went out from their progressive house background to forge new musical directions and break new ground - in Fluke's case, they took on breakbeats in ways that in 1997 were nothing short of exhilirating, and whether it was the grimy big beats of Atom Bomb or Absurd, or the sweet chittering of Reeferendrum or Setback, they laid the foundations for both midtempo crunk/glitch-hop, and (via Hybrid a couple of years later) nuskool breaks.

Atom Bomb is probably a victim of its own success at inspiring copycats, because it's the one track that sounds a bit "of its day" now - buried under the weight of its many imitators in the brief upsurge of interest in Big Beat that followed, but pretty much everything else on this album still sounds fresh as I write this 14 years after its release. If you want to experience Fluke at the height of their powers of groove and skills of production, let this album take you on a journey...
