Finally pulled the trigger after finding a cheap brand new copy.
Obviously the bad rap surrounding GZ worried me but, as many here, i own a few of their pressings and they are not all that bad.
My copy is in the 'works for me while i'm waiting for a better pressing' category:
- record was almost flat, almost marks-free & centered,
- cover is basic but that was expected,
- a few tracks (A2 in particular) have a few cyclic pops but nothing too bad,
- the vocal tracks are not very clear (maybe some saturation in A7),
- Overall, the mix is far frow being very open but this might comes from the original master so...
All in all, better than expected but clearly not mindblowing. -
Took a chance with it and ordered a copy, despite the bad reviews regarding pressing quality. Well, a GZ pressing from 2008 doesn't exactly inspire confidence, that's true.
But it's either this or French respectively Canadian originals for 200+ dineros.
My copy is flat, quiet and looks flawlessly. The sonics are decent, not mind-blowing, could be more open but very enjoyable. No complaints. -
