The Beatles – 1962-1966

Mostly fine but honestly despite the slightly worse dynamics I'd likely reach for the CD version so not one of my favourite records soound quality wise.

Hard to put my finger on it but I do have a problem with side 1 especially, Love me Do in particular does not sound quite right to my ears.

Great song selection and remaster. Red vinyls are a must.

So the question is are these new mixes done for the songs off Rubber Soul going to be the ones used for a new Giles Martin release/remix of Rubber Soul, assuming we are getting one soon?

I doubt that this is indeed a limited edition. Universal is not stopping to press more coloured vinyls of this album. It is easy available in online stores. It was already sold out by the end of 2023. Then Universal started to repress it. I am pretty sure that as long as Universal sells it, they will go on repressing it. This is not, in my opinion, the definition of a “limited release.” Many Beatles fans therefore feel cheated.

Why were the jackets not redesigned to accommodate 3LPs properly? Two records in one pocket? C’mon, this is a product…..
Why is the running order not chronological? (Evidently they ran out of time)
She Loves You is disappointingly dull- the top on the drums is mixed right down.
The omission of Rain is downright criminal.
That said- the material is great of course, and some of the remixes are spectacular.
Such a shame it’s a bit of a botched job.

Hmmm… very different from my 73 uk. I think the clarity makes it an interesting listen. The drums and bass sound pretty cool. But the vocals loose a lot of energy from the separation and the Meticulous attention on clarity. I can only say that this reworking somehow lacks the excitement and energy of the originals. It is fun to ire the musicianship , but the attitude suffers. To me it seems they took a lot of high end off the vocals to smooth them all out.

I have to it I was sceptical ing AI to reproduce these songs. I’d streamed Love Me Do and not been hugely impressed. Anyway I took the plunge using an unexpected gift to fund it and I’m glad I did… because these new versions are extraordinary. It was a lot of fun to listen to songs that I love a lot like I Feel Fine, Day Tripper and Paperback Writer these really cook… but also songs that I didn’t care for like Yesterday also have new depths which for me make them much more engaging than I previously found. The pressing quality is excellent, silent vinyl and no other surface noise to speak of.

Excellent pressing, super clean. These new mixes will undoubtedly be debated ad nauseam. Nobody's wrong or right, it's just a matter of preference. I think they sound fantastic - great low end, detail and space, with none of the harsh mid-range buildup and distortion of the originals. BYO poly-lined inners - otherwise, no notes. Stellar set.

Personally I think the new mixes are really good and the vinyl is pretty loud (someone said it was quiet). Very good pressing and packaging.
