Edited one year agoIs the above 5 format information correct? I have only 3 options to choose from. SDE confirms this. Unless it's the downmixes??

5.1 Surround Mix (48/24)
Hi-Res Stereo Mix (96/24) -
The 5.1 surround mix of this is really impressive. The previous blu ray audio that I played was the Stones' Hackney Diamonds that has sound coming from each speaker but still feels kinda 'flat'. I then played the Danse Macabre 5.1 disc and it completely filled the room with sounds coming from everywhere. This might be the best surround sound disc in my collection so far although Kiss - Destroyer sounds very full as well. -
Edited one year agoThe mastering on the 24/96 stereo mix is horrendously compressed, but this was expected as it was clear the Blu-ray used the same master as all the other digital stereo releases.
Come on if you’re going to releases 24/96 stereo on Blu Ray it’s for audiophiles who do not want horribly compressed sound. Include a flat transfer of the stereo mix without any mastering or if you’re going to master only use sympathetic limiting, master it dynamically for audiophiles!
However the 24/48 5.1 mix is fantastically dynamic and shows no sign of any limiting at all. If you fold down the 5.1 to stereo you get a fantastic stereo mix. It might not be exactly the same as the official stereo mix but it is a very dynamic stereo mix.
