Very nice pressing that I could get from HHV (not easy for us Europeans to get VMP reissues). Quiet pressing, dynamic and punchy with round bass. The cover with the effect on the title, the art print and the booklet are very cool. I just have the last minute of side B with a noise on each round but I have this on so many modern pressings ...

What a brilliant album. Beat Santana by about a year. If you're into that Latin soul / funk / boogaloo with timbales and conga drums, then look no further. Terrific mastering and a great pressing. Beautiful presentation. The titles on the front matt cover are spot gloss. You get an art print and also a booklet. At first, I thought "Ray Baretto.? ESSENTIAL.? Really.??" Yeah... it is. This thing really kills.! Vinyl looks really cool as well.

Amazing music for sure! Also a great pressing, excellent mastering and great depth and clarity. However the mono decision crushes its possible soundstage and holographic sound. Sounds super stuck to the speakers. I would be very happy if VMP would release a stereo version.

How I have missed out on this album for all these year is beyond me. Fantastic add to my collection. Looks and sounds great.

This is VMP at is best…an album I likely never would have heard, but now have spun it a bunch of times in the first week and love it. Nicely done.

A welcome reissue of a fabulous Latin album! But, I wonder why they chose the mono version instead of the stereo. And if mono, then why not couple it with a replica of the Fania gold label, as used with the first mono release of this album, instead of a replica of the later cloud label. Smells like laziness.

Do yourself a favour and invest in a mono cartridge (preferably a MC one). Everything sounds much more natural and rounded. And those trumpets really scream!
