Edited 3 months agoLooking at the pictures of these release i see a outer ring gently raised part on the label area. is a 1974 repress, the original release have a flat profile labels.

Does someone knows if the 2015-2017 (i do not know the exact year) of the Bootleg/unofficial reissue from the fake Ricordi label sound bad? Or does it sound good enough? Thanks

I just got a copy of the Seven Seas Japanese release from 1982. Been living with the 2009 repress from Sony since it came out, but finally I got tired of the dull and distorted sound and invested in the beautiful Japan pressing. I heard new details in the music, it was like someone removed a carpet and turned off a distortion pedal. This must be the closest thing to an original, although I've never heard one. But I would not hesitate buying it. For me it stood between the new represses (which would cost me 50 euro) or a complete Jap press for 120 euro. If I stay sober in the weekend, that money is guaranteed for. One of the best Symphonic Rock albums of all time!

I own this version of Zarathustra, which is a non official version. There are some ages with distortion. Overall the sound is flat, and I wonder if the CONTE 004 version is better, or any other one. -
Just saw one of the "counterfeit" bootlegs. The Vinyl had no Matrix number, and it was very obvious that this wasn't from 1973.

Totally among the very best and at the same time rarest italian prog albums of all times. Its importance equals the masterpieces of the UK prog (different from the italian prog) such as "In the court of the Crimson King" or "Thick as a brick", which are though much less rare in their original presses with respect to Museo Rosenbach's "Zarathustra". This is surely one of the rarest LPs in the italian prog scene. Also, when I say best I mean from all these points of view: outstanding music quality, innovation and originality (this is one of the very first albums that started the italian prog movement and style), and also great artwork and textured cover quality. Lastly, the dynamic range of this LP is very impressive, going from very low and subtle sounds to very powerful moments, with the uniqueness of the unrepeatable analog sound of that golden age.

Which CD's recordings of Zarathustra are best? My current CD at times sounds like it was recorded in a well.

I just bought a pressing of Zarathustra that claims to be the japanese 1981 Sevens Seas reissue, but it's not a gatefold and it has no OBI! Has anyone seen this one before? I can't seem to find out if it's a legit pressing or a bootleg. Will add this release and see if anyone corrects it!
