I got this in the Cosmos Rocks box set from Best Buy. It’s not as bad as people are suggesting. It’s not the best version I’ve ever heard but it’s not that bad. I also got SHA, ANATO and Queen II in the box.
They sound average and again not that bad. I’ve heard worse. They can be muddy at times and the high end a bit weak and brittle.
the Bob Ludwig masters only started coming out on CD in 2011 and the 1/2 speed on 2015 so these Hollywood pressings are not going to sound as good.
I have the complete 2015 vinyl pressings and they are far better. -
sounds bad, I agree with others. it skips immensely in the first minute or so, and just sounds compressed. do not buy.

I am surprised by some reviews, I hear the clear, crisp sound full of bass and with the correct treble as in an analog source record, not a single noise, not a single click or pop, no distortions neither in the loudest moments nor on the last two tracks. They didn't compare to the original but I'm talking about a fabulous and affordable reissue.

Edited 3 years agoListening to this now. I purchased if brand new and it was and Is perfect. Flat quiet and the packaging is just gorgeous. I also have the Japanese SHM disc on cd. I am a huge Queen fan and I find absolutely no reason to want a different vinyl. Musical quality Mix and balanced sound Vocals and guitar sound beautiful. As far as "bad pressing" statements go. Well.. if you bought it new...why would you not return it? I never understand that. So..obviously you need to get this used now...so pressing quality like warps and skips and crackles have already been addressed right. Just know that IMO this is a really really good sounding mix. Seeing these reviews..I guess I got the one in a million...lol. Listening to "let us cling together" right now and I have chills...the chorus is enveloping me and the beautiful ending solo is quiet until the dead wax..just awesome.

I usually look for reviews before purchasing reissues/re-masters etc. For some reason, I did not ask the shop regarding this one as I was sure (for some reasons) that it is probably the one from 2015. Anyway-very bad pressing and very big mistake (that I hope will never return). It will collect dust on my shelf as I look for an original version of a better new pressing.

I picked this up and wondered whether I should because I usually am hesitant about new vinyl reissues. Open opening it I was surprised to see the gatefold quality and it had the art and photos on the inner sleeve! Then, I put it on the turntable and heard what everyone is saying...not a good mastering job. Smeared and compressed, worthless. The new vinyl market takes another hit in my eyes. This is why I usually make sure of the mastering before I purchase. I feel robbed, it will be going back for a refund. Seek an original pressing, avoid this one! Never again, Hollywood Records! I also saw other Queen Hollywood records including a double greatest hits. Glad I didn’t get that!

A pretty bad pressing. My copy starts off with a skip as the gong goes off. Every time we get Freddie's vocals hitting the upper range, especially in harmonies there is this distinctive static sound that appears. Side B is slightly better, however, the issues are still there and never seem to disappear. I would get any other version before this one, a shame too considering this is Queen's second best album.
