Fifth studio album released on December 10th 1976.

The entire back catalogue was re-issued for the first time on CD in 1986, and again on CD in remastered form in 1991 for the US market (via Hollywood Records, and adding a few non-album tracks or remixes not included on the original versions. Parlophone also re-issued the remastered versions in 1993/1994, and subsequently several additional re-remastered versions (some in 5.1 DTS) have appeared.

In 2009 the entire back catalogue of studio albums (newly remastered) was re-released again, this time on heavyweight vinyl, while "40th Anniversary" CD versions appeared in 2011 in standard and "Deluxe Edition" (the latter including a 2nd disc with sparse bonus tracks) via Island Records.

A solid pressing of this historic record. Flat and quiet with great placement of instruments and vocals. Freddie is right there in your living room, unlike the OG press. Also huge improvement in Roger's drum sound, which is lacking on almost all of the early Queen records that really matter.

There's an error on intro track Tie Your Mother Down at 3:45 on 1994 reissue CD version CDP 7 46208 2 . Something like "scratch" sound and that thing is possibly on all 1994 releases from EMI. Mine version came from .

Track 3 starts with the coda of track 2! What a boo boo! It was rectified on the DMS in 1993. Sounds beautiful and warm even if it lacks high end details. Very easy to listen to, like the cassette version of a CD in comparison to the newer versions!

Mine says W on the box but disc Holland! The coda to “You Take My Breath Away” clocks at Track 3! It’s a mastering error! This was rectified on the DMS in 1993.
There’s a charm to these first Queen CD issues from 1986, they’re warm, beefy and even though they lack high end sparkle they are very easy to listen to. This one takes me back to my early days of Queen as a 16 year old in 1985. I got a funny nostalgic buzz listening to it that the newer masters don’t seem to give me.

I agree with the opinions in here; this is really a go to pressing. Great high quality release all over; a deluxe version that has that extra when it comes to the sound.
