Too bad they didn't release the album on 45 rpm like "off the wall", what a waste. I hope Mofi will release a thriller on 45 rpm maxi with the original mix and working with Bernie Grundman if possible.
-
The same years SACD beats this one hands-down.
Also a shame they couldn't get the original mix of the album with Billie Jean being a slightly different version. -
It does sound great. But it’s a tad on the bright side lacking in the middle bass frequencies. However I did listen to things I’ve never had before. It’s more an experience than the definitive version. But if you grew up with the album, gotta have it!
-
MFSL did a good job on this master, but I don't believe it's much of an improvement over the original domestic pressings.
However, a 2-disc, 45RPM version would offer a HUGE improvement, just as their recent "Off the Wall" one step has proven. -
Unbelievable sound, imaging and separation. Running under a Soundsmith cart so the separation is gonna be unreal but this is on another level of good.
-
Lacking in low and mid bass. Too bright. Should have had Analogue Productions do this one. Needs more depth, gain, and fullness. Sorry, not a fan.
-
Edited 8 months agoThis is a very analytical-sounding release. Bass boosted and treble boosted with no midrange (it sounds like a MoFi!). The original Grundman cut has way more energy and life to it.
-
I am so happy to have this copy added into my collection.
So many happy memories of all of these songs I used to DJ back in the clubs.
I have the original 12"'s, first album pressings etc. This MFSL press sounds FANTASTIC 👌🏻!
Anyone complaining about the low end, buy a subwoofer and dial it up for personal preference
This version is true, balanced, punchy, clear and real!!
Enjoy it and grab one while it's still avail! -
