Is there a vinyl press without distortion issues? I have the XX version and after upgrading my system I can hear how awful the sibilance is on Half Time. I'm seeing that this is an issue on multiple pressings and am considering just grabbing a cassette, but I would love having this classic on vinyl.

Just got a repress, but not remaster. Has a mis-spelling on the album! Sounds good.

Nas has a solid collection of lyrics, but his voice is not unique and his delivery is apathetic, not feeling any ion here.

              Short Review - Absolutely Amazing

Long Review - This is one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums that the world has ever encountered. Son of Jazz Musician Olu Dara, Nasir Jones's absolutely dope-as-hell debut album has perfect flow, perfect production, perfect lyrics and not a single defect in sight. If you dig Mainstream Gangsta Rap, you will like it, If you prefer underground Conscious Rap, you will like it, and if you like pretty much any genre of music, you will like it (unless you don't like hip-hop, that is!)

The lyrics are an observational commentary of the dark and and grim areas of Queensbridge - New York in the Early 1990's though the eyes of NaS himself, and is also truthful and autobiographical as well.

The album also has help from the briliant production team of DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, L.E.S. and the Large Professor giving out some real nice jazzy vibes, with the stand out tracks being tracks 2, 3, 4 . . . what the heck, I love all the tunes!

Thanks to the sucess of this wonderful album, NaS has gone on to work with countless producers, singers and rappers and has had countless successful subsequent albums.

Don't miss out on this wonderful debut CD.

The hip hop prodigy who would later be known as the hip hop prophet, Nas has emerged from the shadows to show the world that he is the one of the greatest MC's of all time with his debut album, Illmatic. Nas has drawn the production skills of the all-time greats such as, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor and Q-Tip. With an all-star production team behind Nas, he had nothing to worry about. Nas has shown his great storytelling skills as an MC on his debut album while rhyming over well-crafted beats. Nas has proven himself as the hip hop prophet and one of the greatest of all time. Illmatic is an unforgettable classic as well as one of the greatest rap albums of all time.
