Edited one year agoOh boy, priest had finally locked into their leather wearing, A-string chugging metal masters, when they made this choice to embrace the pop metal sounds of Y&T, Def Leppard, Poison, Ratt, etc. The album has some catchy moments, but overall a letdown of a Priest album. Although the guitar solos are a step up from their past efforts, they are so laden with synth effects that they're easy to ignore.
Highlight is "Reckless", which still tips the hat to old Priest, sadly buried at the end of side B. It's a near perfect rocker, IMO.
The mix is slathered in digital wet reverb and stereo delay, par for the late '80s. This was the last album I bought before abandoning metal.
Pressing is full sounding, huge bottom, and cut hot, but vinyl is noisy.
