Edited 3 months agoQuite simply one of the best sounding rock records in my collection. This thing sounds awesome. "Free Bird" is given an entire side, and it's so freaking good.
This brings out detail in the vocals in a way I did not think was possible. Other versions have a "tape artifact" sort of sound to the vocals in a lot of tracks. Not so here.
And Free Bird is just perfect here. Man, this is a treat. -
Edited one year agoI don't doubt that this mastering is true to the original but does anyone else find the cymbals a little too forward and fatiguing? Paticularly on Side 1 and 2. Wondering if this was just recorded this way. Playing on a 2m Blue.

It sounds great. Mine is not perfectly flat, but it's not too bad off. Comparing the cover from the original i have, the AP is not as good. It's darker and not as clear. My original (or close to it) copy is well worn so I needed an upgrade and I'm happy with this copy.

This is my 3rd Lynyrd double 45rpm from AP and its as awesome as the first two. The sound is wonderful and the discs are both flat and quiet. 45rpm to me makes a worthwhile difference at times and this album does benefit from it where not all do such as Marvin Gaye's Whats Goin On.

Edited 2 years agoI don't have any other versions to compare to, but this is a fantastic pressing. Everything is so clear and well presented. I'm hearing things in the mix that I never knew were there. I'm very happy with this purchase.

My first AP total surely won’t be my last. Spacious, great soundstage, sounds like i’m hearing this record for the first time. God bless Lord Kassem and AP.

I do not have an original US pressing to compare to but always thought my UK original sounded really good & in the vast majority of cases my original pressings sound far better than re-issues. In my opinion this is definitely not the case here. This version is far better in every respect - greater instrument separation, RVZs vocals much clearer, dead quiet vinyl & super quality packaging. It’s not cheap in the UK (My mint sealed copy just set me back £64 inc PP) but for me it’s definitely worth the money. This is how all vinyl should sound these days.

Regarding the Analogue Productions pressing of "It's Pronounced", is it worth paying the expensive prices now (around €100 in EU), or should I buy the MOV pressing instead for a fraction of the price?
