I've been buying up jazz tone poets and audiophile grade records in the past fewyears...now having a dip into 80's stuff and I'm pleasantly surprised at how dynamic and punchy this record is. It's beautiful and the copy I've acquired is dead quiet. Very happy indeed! Cheap as chips too!

A-ha is a Norwegian synth-pop band formed in Oslo in 1982. Founded by Paul Waaktaar-Savoy, Magne Furuholmen, and Morten Harket, the band rose to fame during the mid-1980s. A-ha achieved their biggest success with their debut album Hunting High and Low in 1985.

Hunting High and Low is the debut studio album by Norwegian new wave band A-ha. It was released on 28 October 1985 by Warner Bros. Records. The album was a huge commercial success, reaching high positions on charts worldwide and peaking at number 15 on the US Billboard 200, eventually selling more than 11 million units worldwide. The album was recorded at Eel Pie Studios in Twickenham, London, and produced by Tony Mansfield, John Ratcliff and Alan Tarney.

This is an amazing album and the 1985 master has great sound. This album has two amazing singles that I love (hunting high and low and take on me) I think that the success of this album is well deserved and if you plan on getting an album, this is a very strong candidate for your choice. The synth pop style that A-ha uses creates a sense of joy in the listener and is great for any person to start or end their day with. I find that albums created in this style are easy to relax to, and that is what makes this album great. The only downside I see in this album is that due to modern pop culture, some of their songs have been turned into memes which detracts from the music.

In an era when Duran Duran hopelessly left-off towards more over-extravagant-less-valuable pop forms, A-ha came along with 'Hunting High and Low', a truly magnificent pop-study in both, melody structure and pristine production.

To put it simply, there is not a single bad song in this collection. Some tracks are less ace than others to be sure, but as a whole, 'Hunting High & Low' is one the finest 80's-defining moments alone without cliches usually attached to that decade's newcomers.

The crowning moment is of course, 'Take on me', the group's debut success, an up-tempo tune where dance sensuality meets the eye but don't be fooled by the typical game of choice by the group's record company, to put their killer hit-track on top in case the rest might fail. The thing is, 'Hunting High & Low' is far more obscure to a deserved hit in that respect and is much more opened for re-discovering the album with every next listen.

'Train of Thought', 'Sun Always Shines on TV', 'I Dream Myself Alive' or 'Living a Boy's Adventure Tale' are to name a few significant others that might ring the bell in case you decide to put this album back on or if you are completely new to early A-ha. A pop-album sadly missing in case you don't have it in your collection.
