This is an absolute belter of a comp. Sounds really boss! Good sleeve notes too. These mid-/late-80s Edsel garage/psych compilations/straight reissues are hard to beat if you can’t find originals.

You Can't Judge A Book (By The Cover) and the Song Spoonful are two really nice covers (B.Dixon) too !!

This is a fine collection of the best of the Shadows of Knight. These guys could play white boy blues better than most of their contemporaries, but it's the band's scorching rockers that still amaze me. 'Oh Yea', 'Light Bulb Blues' and of course the classic 'Gloria' are all prime examples of some of the best sixties' rock and roll. They literally reinvent Bo Diddley's 'Oh Yea', and the song becomes a much more interesting tune, a la the Stones' version of Berry's 'Around and Around', or the Doors' take on Howlin' Wolf's 'Back Door Man'.
