I agree with the comments about the Albini technique on the title track opening. I was standing right in front of my speakers fiddling with the volume and EQ trying to hear the vocals when I was blasted with the wall of sound that hits a couple minutes in. I have a feeling that would be a much better effect on headphones. But other than that, which I'll forgive as an artistic choice rather than a mistake, this record is absolutely outstanding. This is my first time listening to it in any format, so I have nothing to compare it to a far as pressing quality, but it's great. Buy it. -
Outstanding record. Dead quiet pressing, excellent mastering. The original recoding is more of a raw energy release, but this mastering takes that and expands several notches into a dynamic hifi record. If you like the CD you owe it to yourself to grab this. -
Edited one year agoLook for 25 euro this is a steal. I am lucky enough to have an original press and although alot more dynamic and with a much better sound stage is it worth a 100 quid over this.... perhaps so if you are a collector. Saying that if I didn't have the OG press I would say that this reissue is fantastic. I would definitely recommend this to a friend. -

Wow, what an astounding release. Quiet vinyl, dynamic recording with great vinyl mastering. The streaming files are equally good (dr14).

Edited one year agoRock solid pressing. Dead quiet! Dynamically it sounds great. Albini's mix shines and this press does it no disservice! -
On top of the vinyl sounding great, the digital version is a full dynamic not loudness war destroyed version, which is a big pleasant and rare surprise! -

I guess Polly's records were meant to be listened to on CD, except for this one whose original mixing and mastering on CD was quite a tragedy, so much so that in '93 she released the 4 track demos of the album. This vinyl reissue is finally a satisfying experience.
