Edited 7 months agoDavid in 1986: "Russell, I'd need the most mystical-looking artwork you can muster. Here are my illustrated alchemy-themed books I'm basing my songs in for your inspiration. The title is Gone to Earth, so let us dive deep into the earth element with this".
David in 2018: "Oh, long time no see. Now I'm curating these as if they were a writer's complete oeuvre. So Yuka, I'd need the most period-piece-looking vérité snapshot you can find, '80s haircut included. The title is Gone to Earth, so let's bring the whole thing down to earth, right?". -

Edited 3 years agoThe sound of the vinyl is satisfying but I've got too many crackles on side D where the songs are quiet. This is unacceptable for a brand new item. As for the original artwork, I have a US reissued CD and I have never found this artwork particularly stunning.

Edited 4 years agoShame on whoever put so little effort in the vinyl pressing of this...as far as the artwork i read somewhere that the original art was missing/destroyed so they couldn't reproduce it anymore, too bad...still, if the quality of vinyl was good that could have been forgiven!

I would never buy this reissue just because of the pathetic new cover/artwork. What is that? You meddle with perfection you end up as a mediocre contender. This cover just killed the mood.

I suppose this needs a reissue and it's nice enough, but it's a little bit uninspired. The original Russell Mills artwork is nowhere to be seen, which is a real shame; what we've ended up with is a typically tasteful Sylvian re-release without anything additional to get excited about.

Two copies from Amazon UK, both with identical scratch. Both sent back. Looks like a manufacturing fault. https://i.redd.it/wct59we6ral21.jpg

Had to pick this one as it was screaming at me in a record shop. Just why did they butcher (or simply completely changed) the original cover art is beyond criminal.
