Would be nice to see them repress Blood on the dance floor so we didn't have to buy these gimmicky albums to get a few hits from previous albums that haven't been added to his vinyl discography recently.

Edited one month agoJust acquired a copy second hand. Plays great. No noise whatsoever. The packaging is cool.

Edited one month agoBad pressing. Bought 2 mint copies by mistake... Both copy skips on the very first track. Most tracks have clicks at some point.
Dont buy this unless its to hang on your wall. -
Edited one month agoShazam code AR is no longer ed? I tried to view today but camera icon doesn´t show on Shazam app...

Edited one month agoI've just noticed (only just ever played it) that on my disc 2, the blue splatter vinyl I have the D side label on both sides of the vinyl and not the C label.

There is definitely some hissing... Not the worst I've ever heard. It doesn't ruin the experience for me, but I did hear glow in the dark vinyl is about the worst you can use. Where I have so many questions (complaints?) is about the mastering. Some tracks sound ok enough, but others are muddy, and not dynamic. Probably the biggest example here is "Leave Me Alone" which sounds really good and dynamic, but the following track "Scream" is extremely stagnant, with no depth or movement. I bought this primarily for this track, and I was disappointed from the begining three notes. "Scream" should have been the most sonically pleasing and layered song on the album. I was hoping to hear it like I'd never heard it before, and unfortunately I got my wish, as I've never heard that song sound so flat and boring. What gives? Was History Continues ever analog to begin with? Did they just not spend any time on this mastering? Suffice it to say, for an average fan, this release is pretty cool, but brittle crappy packaging, iffy mastering, and noisy vinyl means: Audiophiles, stay away.

Edited one month agoI think the comments so far are a bit overly harsh.
Yes, it is quite noisy compared to my other records. Glow-in-the-dark vinyl is especially notorious for this, so that is to be expected (just like with all the MJ picture disc releases, picture discs are horrible). But unless you’re an audiophile it is very well listenable. The noise is mostly only noticeable between tracks, but while the music plays it sounds fine to me. The mastering is good and full of energy (although i have to it i have no other MJ releases to compare with).
The only thing I’d like to have seen different with the packaging is the addition of clear poly sleeves around the vinyl, for protection. They probably left it out to make it as transparent as possible (for the glow to be mostly noticeable), but the current way of packaging makes the records prone to scratching. But it’s easy enough to fix this yourself with some third party poly sleeves. The packaging looks really badass with the additional glow in the dark areas and the way they interact with the vinyl design, so I get why the they did it like this.
The track selection is also good. They fit the theme well, go well together, and none of them are boring. Real MJ purists will probably frown at it, but it has a fun factor that you won’t find on a re-release of an official album.
What I would really like is a re-release of History Book 1, cause the 1995 originals go for crazy prices, but until then this is will probably be my favourite MJ release. -
