The quality of the record is close to unlistenable to me. I bought with with great pleasure. Hardly listen till the end.

Please, regarding gatefold cover, is difference between 10C version ("soft touch finish with gloss varnish packaging") and retail version really noticeable?
Thanks! -
Played on a Denon DL-103 & an Audio Technica AT440MLB, and a pair of HiFiMan HE 4XX planar magnetic headphones. The AT & 4XX together pull out a lot of what's available in the top end, and there's just very little on this record, except a bit of sibilance (but not much). Dynamic range sounds quite compressed but I haven't measured it. Sadly it's another in a line of not-great-sounding PJ records.
Still a fun record though! And a better show! -
My copy sounds pretty good. I can see how some other have given this record a less than great review as I think it does sound somewhat compressed in parts, but overall I enjoyed it. There're some great moments and the tracklist is killer!

I do not understand complaints about sound quality. As for me, this is the first great-sounding PJ vinyl. I expected another noisy vinyl with a lot of dynamic compression in the style of Brendan o'brien, and I got a subdued, warm sounding sound with a fresh bottom and solidly cut medium - applause of people is just a background. It's great for me. I recommend listening to vintage equipment, where medium frequencies were a lot. Then there will be no complaints about their lack.

Pearl Jam have dropped the ball on this one. Poor mastering. Has the “smiley face” EQ sound. Muffled, lacking mids and poor top end. Very disappointing all round.

Edited 7 years agoTotally agree with funky_tomate. Really poor sound quality. Muffled and compressed. I've listened to it once, and will probably never listen to it again. I'm a die hard PJ fan, so I'll keep it to complete my collection, but a huge let down. Such a shame :-(

Poor quality sound. So much disappointed. Muffled, compressed, weird channel separation. What a shame ! Well, packaging is high quality but content is simply awful. Red card to 10C !

Edited 7 years agoI have the US retail version. I agree with Given2Fly15, it's def got a muffled sound. I think they used one master for all formats. This def sounds like a compressed digital mix, not analog. I know most stuff is recorded digitally today, but typically the vinyl masters are mixed differently than digital, and you can here it with a good vinyl pressing.

The EU "Let's Play Two" pressing ( 00602557847673 ) sounds muffled. Is this version (10c) actually pressed in the US? Do listeners feel it sounds muffled? Won't help to compare it to the recent 10c "No Code" and "Yield" represses - those are really bad in both pressing and sound quality.
