Just bought a new/unplayed copy from a Discogs seller. My copy is #2161. No distortion anywhere, no surface noise or pops whatsoever. Crystal clear sound throughout. Played on Technics SL-1210G with Hana ML cartridge. -

One of the best albums of all time - beautiful ambient trance, still after many years not many records come close to hitting this vibe - blending roland dance beats, deep bass, sampled guitar, synth texture, female vocal, etc this convincingly. Like narco Robert Leiner (his remix of 'I Love You', Deeper Mix certainly the inspiration for 'Missing You') or Opus III and akin to Luke Slater's first 7th Plain album. Ending with Country Rain & the KLF inspired pastoral slide guitar. One of the finest jewels of shoegaze, ambient, or any genre

A bit of a curio in the Slowdive cata so far as it slots rather more comfortably in the Ambient House category than the shoegaze that preceded it, or the post-rock that followed it with Pygmalion. Unsurprisingly, those were the tracks that quickly got the remix treatment, from Bandalu and Reload, both inarguably techno if not IDM acts. I the last three Halstead compositions sticking like sore thumbs at the end of the US edition of Souvlaki to which they were appended. Interesting, not essential IMO. -
Edited 10 months agoWhile perusing my collection of Global Communication/Reload/Pritchard/Middleton records I pulled this beauty out to give it another attentive listen. I was mesmerized (all over again) by the quality and ingenuity of the Reload remix.
Goswell's airy vocals give it light and warmth, the crunchy beats give it body, while the arrangement gives it an interesting path through the sonic landscape. Definitely a high point of the early 90's ambient-techno sound that was permeating the scene. A piece of music history that stands the test of time and is just as good a listen today as it was 30+ years ago.
This Reload remix is a perfect companion to the towering quality of Mark&Tom's other shoegaze remix work - 'Blood Music: Pentamerous Metamorphosis'. -

Love the music, but the last song on side two has prominent distortion throughout.
I'm disappointed because MOV is usually excellent. All other songs are awesome and sound great. 3 outta 4 ain't bad I guess but wish it was on black vinyl... -

I love all the genres this EP supposedly nestles itself within, but I’m very bored by it. I enjoy most Slowdive. Hell, I enjoy most shoegaze. And I love ambient, dream pop, minimal electronic, new age even. But I find this release pretty dull. It isn’t bad by any means; it’s too removed from reference points to be judged in a negative way. It’s simply…fairly forgettable, as this style goes. -

Picked my copy up second hand. Number 444. Appeared unplayed and I have to say it sounds amazing. Minimal surface noise and no hint of distortion. £20 well spent as far as I'm concerned.
