Really sounds like an excellent record. To me it sounds very much like I'm listening to spinning vinyl as opposed to a spinning cd or digital file. It has nice depth and punch. It's not the most spectacular mix and master of all time...it's not up there with the great sounding records but it does impress. It's still a very nice listen. Great early 80's Australian rock. Lots of cool songs. -

This can be purchased Near Mint for practically nothing and it's worth every penny and more. My copy sounds excellent. The music is very clean and crisp. I'm listening at a low volume and the music jumps out of my speakers. I couldn't ask for more when purchasing a used vinyl that is 40 years old. Happy with this record! -

Sounds rather flat to me and lacking brightness and dynamics. -
Copy #006126, just compared to an original US pressing. This MOFI is lower in volume and needs cranking to get up to my usual listening levels. I noticed the MOFI has a bit more air in the upper mids and highs, but sounds a bit set back in doing so, possibly because it has less compression than the original US. Vocals are probably a tiny bit more natural sounding on MOFI, and there's some sibiliance on MOFI, but there's nothing really wrong in the US pressing. Now the US isn't overly loud or compressed in comparison, but it does have more presence and attack that the MOFI seems to lack. I really wanted to like this MOFI more, but overall the original US pressing sounds better to me and is a better overall listening experience.

Really clear, dynamic, and well mastered to vinyl. No sibilance and balanced soundstage; excellent pressing of their second lp. Overkill especially has never sounded better on my system.

Edited one year agoThis album brings back so many good memories,me and wife went on a car trip from Finland to England back in 1983 in our old Fiat 127 a rusty old car running on it’s last breath, but listening to radio Luxemburg in the evenings where they played the UK hitlist, and MAW:s It’s a mistake was high in the charts at that moment, this album is a pretty good effort from this band, not a bad song in sight,Colin Hay really did a wonderful job in writing memorable songs not exluding the other band efforts.A good album indeed!

This album and their first is a must have if you like this genre. “It’s a Mistake” is one of my favorites by them.

Every bit the equal to their debut, CARGO captures the same quirky spirit with another batch of catchy tunes. Colin Hays' voice absolutely soars on "High Wire", "I Like To" has a great guitar solo, "Upstairs in My House" features a killer saxophone-driven chorus, and "No Restrictions" is another great closer. This is a nice pressing, the drums sound great, it's not lacking in the low end, and it's got a full bodied sound. My copy has some scuffs, but it plays almost flawlessly.

how does this compare to the mofi pressing? Better, worse or about the same? -
Direct comparison with US original press https://discogs.versitio.com/release/6566020-Men-At-Work-Cargo :
This MoFi pressing has more sibilance, and a different, less flattering midrange tonality - especially noticeable on the vocals. I don’t hear anything that’s superior to the US K Disc Mastering, which was also used for the Australian release.
