Foo Fighters – One By One

Sound great, one of my favorite, better with age ♥️

I've been through two copies of this so far, the mastering is pretty decent but unfortunately both copies I have gotten had really bad inner groove distortion and a bunch of non-fill. Returned both and going to try to track down a Pallas version, because these ones just don't seem to be up to par.

The DVD seems to be region-locked to Japan.

A frankly horrid record. Aside from the artistic shortcomings (50% of the songs are utterly forgettable), this one is a sonic disaster, and I'm not sure if this was down to the cutting of the vinyl, or whether it was down to the quality of the master.
First things first - this is a 55-minute album crammed onto a single disc, so it would have to have been cut DMM to sound any good. The lack of level due to the side duration makes it susceptible to loads of surface noise, even on a relatively clean copy. Worse still, the whole thing is brickwall mastered with pretty much zero dynamic range.
Labels are off-centre and the tracklisting is incorrect (Tired of You is listed as side 2 track 1 instead of side 1 track 6). This sloppiness extends to the sleeve - the band portraits appear on both the inner sleeve and inside the gatefold. Why? I'm guessing they couldn't be bothered doing it correctly, so just copied and pasted the CD artwork.
The gatefold sleeve is light and flimsy and obviously printed cheaply - on my copy the white background on the front cover had visibly yellowed after a couple of years.
I sold mine to a Foo Fighters superfan a couple of years back (having advised in my listing all of the flaws listed above). This LP originated from the early 2000s - vinyl's commercial nadir - and there is the distinct whiff of "will this do?" about the whole thing.
I believe that there is a newer, double-vinyl edition out there. I don't know if it's any better, but I doubt it could be worse than this. One for completists only. Caveat emptor.

Excellent reissue and pressing. These FFs reissues have had excellent sound and great pressing quality control. Provides for a great listening experience.

Being one of my favorite bands, I really like this album. Not my favorite but solid. Pressing is flat and sounds good. Recommended!

Easily the most underrated FF album. You can hear that Dave was hanging out with Josh Homme.

Sounds great. Bass is heavy and the drums punchy. Low , Burn Away and Disenchanted Lullaby really sound amazing. I posted this too early... Halo and Lonely as You, the drums sound massive! So good

This is by far the best sounding version of this album. Feels like the Foos are performing right in front of you. Better than the US original press and the 2011 reissue. UK original is the way to go. If you can find one, GET IT

*I will say that the album cover on the sleeve has poor image quality. But it’s about the music and I believe this pressing is better than the reissue

Don’t over analyze this one. Crank it up and enjoy! My copy plays great, no surface noise whatsoever. I’m pretty sure I’d only heard MP3’s of this album prior to picking this up so I’m obviously hearing a lot more detail here.
