sounds great but more crackling groove noise than i would like despite ultrasonic cleaning. only tolerable because it's not as expensive as other reissues

Sorry i am very surprised by comment on this 2018 version i havé a small collection of 300 vinyls most of them first or second original pressing i bought Scenery yesterday and it is so boring feel like i put a cd it is flat no intensity no grain in the instrument so boring i dont know the TBM original version but i have Ako's dream on original TBM pressing and it is another world !!! In conclusion even for 25 euros it is not a good buy !!!

Agree with Facelift3 in that the superlatives are unwarranted.
LP is flat and glossy without any factory marks. Housed in anti static inner sleeve, no frills presentation but that's not why we're here.
An ok pressing. Mix is great and not overly bassy as some have stated. Semi frequent moments of bright shrillness. Surface noise is definitley here, pops and clicks throughout on both sides.
To me, this is worth having and is a better representation of Scenery than any hi res version availble through the streamers. Not without faults though as others have stated.

Ordered a discounted “damaged” copy from eBay for $14 and it arrived sealed and perfectly fine lol. Although this isn’t one of my favorite jazz albums or even in my top 20, this is a good record. That being said this pressing sounds great for the price. I’m sure the 180g feels sturdier but this plays great and sounds really good! No complaints here add me to the “this is a great pressing” gang

Edited 10 months agoJust received my copy in the mail today.
I was somewhat shocked by the fact the inner sleeve wasn't polylined. Luckily I had a few mofi inner sleeves laying around, so ill be using that instead. The record itself looks great in red.
Sound is crisp and clear. The low end can seem lacking at times, but the clarity makes up for it. Worth the wait! -
Edited 10 months agoI got this at my local record store earlier today and compared it with the We Release Jazz reissue I bought a few years ago. This reissue's presentation is much better, complete with a sturdy jacket, obi strip, and a replica of the original insert. Still, I was somewhat miffed about how the inner sleeve was a paper one (it wasn't even polylined!). The color of this pressing is a nice apple red, which may help to mask any scratches on the surface (whether or not that is a good thing is up to you). My copy has a bit of a defect on Side B, where there is a small, darker patch on the runout section, likely from excess vinyl being used to manufacture this record.
Giving it a listen after cleaning, I did notice some slight surface noise, likely from the inclusion of a paper sleeve, although it does go away as the music continues. This record sounds quite dynamic, albeit a bit shy on bass. On the other hand, while the We Release Jazz reissue sounds great as well, it feels a bit bass-heavy, in my opinion. There seems to be no middle ground in of which of these two reissues sounds the best, so I guess it is ultimately taste and system-dependent (plus, you can also adjust the EQ settings on your amplifier). Initial listening also showed some more repeated clicks near the end of Side B, although I feel those might go away with more cleaning and plays.
Overall, I say this reissue is pretty good; it's probably the only modern edition that more so resembles the original Japanese pressing from 1976 instead of making its own design choices like on the We Release Jazz reissue. I say buy this one with confidence, you most likely won't be disappointed.
[EDIT: I got my second copy in the mail, now it has some more repeated clicks during the opening track (which slowly fade away as the music picks up). I seem to be having some bad luck with these.] -

For the price, this is a great pickup. Comes in poly lined sleeve and nice thick clear vinyl. I little noisy when I first dropped the needle, but gave it a quick brush clean and sounds great. Minimal noise afterwards. Drums and piano filled my room with prestine clarity. This album is a masterpiece. I now have the ability to own this thanks to turntablelab. Get this while you can. Still available at turntablelab.com.
