Great pressing, nice silver color, cool little gatefold, and most importantly it just sounds really good, you can't really beat it, this album just goes hard, arguably dooms darkest album
-
One of MF DOOM's best alter egos in my opinion...Some of the best boom bap type stuff he's done too...

This was the second vinyl I got, about 2 months ago and I can say I did and still do enjoy it.
The gatefold is very slick aswell as the silver pressing -

I was personally so suckered in by DOOM's incredible ability to turn snippets of mostly well known/non- obscure jazz- funk tracks into, well, you know 🧪🔥), that when grabbing this without a second thought, it may not have resonated as it should.
Over repeat listens 'Vaudeville Villain' reveals itself to be one of your most essential adversities.
This is for the DOOM connoisseur, who holds no discomfort in being emerged in layers of darkness.
An absolute crowning moment to be cherished, & one to lock the doors & go end to end with. -
My copy has a volume issue. The volume of the first few tracks on side A fluctuate. Side B is unaffected. A part from that, the audio is clean and sounds good.

beyond essential. doom at his best lyrically over incredible beats by producers that never got their due. blows my mind every time. -
Edited one year agoI was thrown off for a second by Open Mic Night Part 1 appearing after Let Me Watch instead of after A Dead Mouse, but looking at other discogs entries I guess it's been like that for releases from the last 10 years? I've listened to my CD copy from 2003 countless times so I definitely wasn't expecting it.
The thunderstorm omission at the end of the album was already mentioned in another comment, but I'll just add it's a really weird transition. Like, you hear half a second of the skit beginning and then it immediately cuts into Change The Beat. I think they could've included the very beginning of it with the narration and if needed, significantly shorten the rainfall to something like 20 seconds or so.
Not a deal breaker by any means but as someone who's listened to this album for 20 years, it just seems kind of an odd choice.
There's also a lot of deadwax at the end of every side. I definitely don't think it should be a single LP but I wonder if a 45 RPM pressing could've worked, especially with the removal of the aforementioned storm.
