Neil Young – Tonight's The Night

Pressing sounded great, until I got to ‘Borrowed Tune’ and got a blast of static a few times. Real unfortunate, will find a copy that does not have this ‘feature’.

Just to add to the discourse on this release, my copy has no pressing problems, Borrowed Tune is perfect and the whole thing sounds great, as most of these NYA reissues do. The gatefold is heavy feeling textured card on the outside and doesn't feel at all flimsy. It even smells great!

I can't exactly when I purchased it but it was a few years ago, much more recently than 2015 though. It's possible certain runs are better than others. If the packaging is markedly different this may warrant a new submission? I don't have another copy to compare unfortunately.

As mentioned, this pressing and zuma (us stampers, Japanese vinyl)……. It sounds amazing. Audiophile level quite. Now on search for zuma

One of Neil's greatest records, along with "On The Beach" and "Harvest". Neil was in his element writing these songs. And I know he hated the way "Time Fades Away" turned out, but partly because of the minutiae surrounding the tour and his terrible memories of that tour. Personally TFA is one of my fave Neil records, but this record is stellar as well.

I have exactly this reissue, bought it new in 1989 in a record store in West Berlin, but my copy doesn't came with the lyric sheet/poster. Otherwise all is identical as described here.

I recently purchased a copy of this. Only side A says promo. Side B does not. Has anyone seen this variant and know anything about it? Thank you!

It seems that I got lucky because my copy doesn't have any defects on Borrowed Tune, which I'm very glad of, especially since it's my favourite on the album. The quality of the packaging is a little disappointing - it's flimsy and the texture makes the artwork look faded. Either way I'm just glad that mine sounds fine.

Edit* this is my favorite album ever, this sound is much superior to that of my OG copy. Everything sounds better in short.

I got lucky with no pressing issues. The packaging is a real problem. This album’s packaging and inserts are very important to this album.

An OG or older copy has the textured album jacket. And a much better quality insert and booklet. The black steamboat label is obviously essential. Very disappointed in the packaging here because for this album it’s essential and also just very easy to get right. A very flimsy and cheap jacket. Should’ve been a hard stock like they did with the harvest reissue.

Now when compared audio wise to my NM OG, I find this to be an absolutely excellent repressing of this album in general.

brilliant album - another great sounding canadian pressing. just a little bit of surface noise enhances the experience. best enjoyed in the late hours of the night…

I just got a copy and has the borrowed tune buzz/ beep noise part the way through , disappointing .
