My set came without the inner box that holds the discs, the book & the poster. Everything else is identical to this set.
-
How is this different to Neil Young - Neil Young Archives Vol. II (1972-1976) ?. . . .Not easy to spot.
-
His butt should be kicked COUNTLESS tymes!!!!!!! For kickin´ out just lousy useless cds only! Whadda a loudmouth this guy meanwhile seems to be! I want vinly - nothing else. Should buy who ever wants this crude bull.
-
Have this version, ordered the day they released the initial preorder. Never received my Certificate of Authenticity
-
neil & his cd-only-"ideas" stinks COMPLETELY - since there´s NOTHING for the real ONES ... the fans of the one & only VINYL!! So NEVER i will jump onto that kinda cheap-done d.-heap (in all-in-all a more or less lousy package form)

Edited 3 years agoDisc 10 'Odeon Budokan' : first 5 tracks recorded in London at Hammersmith Odeon on March 31st .. last 5 tracks recorded in Tokyo at Budokan Hall on March 10th except 'Cowgirl In The Sand' recorded on March 11th.

Amazing box set and to think it's only 4 years I'm a big Neil fan and bought the 1st one shortly after it came out(Deluxe Edition). I have no regrets getting the deluxe edition again. It opens with a song I recognized one of my favorite underrated songs from the 80s 'long walk home' the original version, this set is filled with treasures like that. Neil really can put together a box set even if it did take 11 year between 1 and 2.I really have enjoyed it and now I can finally spell 'Neil Y' on my shelf 2 more volumes and I got the full name

I love Neil & I've bought this, but I might apply for a job at Warners checking this stuff. Back sleeves of CD 3 and CD 4 both have inaccurate tracklists on the back sleeves, CD 3 forgets to number Speakin' Out & CD 4 doesn't have any of the in-between-tracks stuff included so the numbering is out. I've only really looked at 2 disks so far ...

Edited 4 years agoHaving owned the limited edition first pressing of this box (soon to go) and now this 'retail' version, the latter is far more preferable as far as I'm concerned. I don't want a 10 CD boxset taking up the equivalent storage space of 30 LPs like the deluxe does.
This retail version ditches the oversized box and book and comes with the 10 CDs (identical to the larger box in content and sleeves) inside a soft-touch slide-in box. Low quality this is not. It also includes a filing cabinet poster that is pretty pointless and a CD-sized book with basic details of when/where each song was recorded.
Zero tat. Perfect. -
I was hugely disappointed with the quality of this boxset, which retails for €130/$150.
This is as bare-bones as it gets. Ten CDs housed in digipack sleeves, which are printed on stock of questionable quality and badly folded. A 20 page CD-sized booklet printed of what appears to be recycled paper with just the song titles, sources and credits. Plus one (ugly) poster of the "Archive" folder cabinet.
There's not one photo, sleeve notes, not one line of text to help give context to the music. Nothing.
I understand all the info you need are in a book which was issued with the deluxe edition and will later be made available for purchase for the poor stupid wretches who couldn't afford the deluxe edition right away.
But no effort was made to make this release - which again, retails for €130, not peanuts - worth anything beside what the music it contains is worth to you. A USB stick with the lossless songs loaded onto would have been much classier.
This boxset is UGLY.
And it looks and feels cheap.
