High quality reissue. Sound is generally well balanced, which is hard for this genre and era, as many albums tend to have tipped up treble and bass with not much in-between. Worth it. -
Edited 4 years agoI received an email recently from two sister's in Baltimore and Maryland regarding 80's groups they felt stole much of "Chic" creative material and made their own.
In **** I was employed on an American Airbase during the height of the disco era and subsequent proliferation of 80's Funk, Soul, Boogie for 5 years. American GI's went mad with this stuff, and base clubs were filled with a vibrant essence, wishing you were there.
It was the first time I saw "Nicholas Ashford" & "Valerie Simpson" and the "Chi-lites", like ing in the supermarket, but didn't actually see the performance because of age. I didn't think much about music then, because like many youngsters I was into basketball, and chasing girls, but worked the club during the day arranging tables, chairs and the bar, all at the tender age of **.
The euphoria of seeing them was not as powerful and only came to mind 1-2 years later when the music began its deadly onslaught on both mind and spirit. I was hooked.
Fast forward a few years; the group "Change" along with lead vocal singer "James Robinson" appeared live at a music congregation. The only place I found was the balcony, peeping through a large gap of bodies, because it was PACKED. They played all the hits.
What sent me into a frenzy is when bass guitarist "Timmy Allen" stood near the front stage and played 10 straight minutes of instrumental joy "Heaven of My Life" and "The Very Best in You". "James Robinson" grabbed the mic and began singing "The Very Best In You", accompanied by the deadly and delicious "Deborah Cooper".
One could close eyes, turn your back and not be able to distinguish between record and live performance, it was that good. When you look at the "Sharing Your Love" 1982 album/CD cover, this is how they stood at the end. I could go on.... This is a memory that will never go away.......
Having said that; before you let anyone sway your opinions, talkin' "Chic" rip off and stuff like that, think again.... The music industry is full of phantom copied styles and creativeness, you follow the money, but this group developed its own unique style, and if anything bolstered what "Nile Rogers & Bernard Edwards" did so well.

This pressing seems to run slower and sounds very dull compared to https://discogs.versitio.com/Change-Miracles/release/191733 -

Channeling Chic (and with figures from their team) but with their own sun-drenched, breezy take on late disco soul. All to the good, as Change kept the recipe of strong songs and catchy hooks that escaped Chic as time wore on. Bravo! -
I agree this is an extremely good album. I have always been a big fan of Change, but I consider this their masterpiece. The only song (IMHO) that's not great is the only (obligatory?) ballad on the album ("Stop for love") , the rest are all pure gems, Your move, Heaven of my life and the title song "Miracles" just to name of few. And I really don't understand how people can regard them as a "Chic knock-off" I have a few albums of Chic but they've got nothing on any album of Change.

Edited 10 years agoPound for pound one of the best soul albums of the 80's.
It isn't often an album is littered with quality tunes
We buy an album for a couple of tunes, this album has Miracles,Hold Tight,Paradise,Heaven of my life which are soul/boogie monsters.
Every home should have one !!! -

The best album ever by the Italian disco group. They were at the height of their careers when Miracles was released in 1981. Many people dismissed them as the poor man's Chic. But Chic had nothing on these guys, not to mention the fact that they were overrated and got attention by hanging out at Studio 54 all the time. The best songs on this album are "Your Move", "Angel Of My Heart" and "Hold Tight", which went to #40 R&B on July 11, 1981 for nine weeks. My favorite is James Robinson singing "Your Move", which is the perfect late night song. Robinson filled in for Luther Vandross as lead singer because Vandross was working on his solo album at the time, although he does appear as one of the backround singers.
