Premiata Forneria Marconi – Photos Of Ghosts

I had such high hopes for this pressing. I try to steer clear of anything vinyl that's not black, but this was a cool limited edition of a record I love, and so being on clear vinyl was the only way to buy it. I don't have an OG to compare it with anymore, but the mix on here is so quiet, all the clicks and pops are that much louder because you have to turn the gain up so high, you have a quiet mix and a loud surface. Again, I'm not sure if the OG was mixed so low; the version on Spotify is mixed much louder (like everything on Spotify it's got tons of compression) and the mix is as loud as everything else on Spotify.

If you're looking for a copy of this record, I'd recommend staying away from this one.

This is the second disc i buy of this album, the first one was wavy like a pringles, in this one the cracks are so numerous and loud that on several occasions it goes over the sound signal. This is unfortunately a common problem with most records produced by this label. I strongly advise against the purchase, the disc is unlistenable. Honestly I don't give a damn about limited editions, colored records, 180g vinyl or anything else. A normal black record that plays GOOD would be enough for me.

The LP is less high-end heavy than the digital version, which is good.
However, I really doubt that you can find a copy that is going to sound great. Mine is NM-, but the pops are still not tolerable, and yes, I have wet cleaned it 3 to 4 times. The record itself is paper thin.

I don’t normally comment on older pressings, but this sounds fantastic, and nice copies are available for under $10

Is this not the same as THIS LP? Matrix runouts identical except the other one is not identified as "Gatefold" sleeve.

Good album overall, my main complaint is that the lyrics on the first track, "River Of Life", don't quite work as well with the music as on the original Italian version. But you get two extra tracks, a new version of "Celebration" with some alternate arrangements in it and the instrumental track "Old Rain" which is exclusive to the english version.
