Best part John Carpenter in music ! you know how big this track, had a great influence on other genres. Afrika bambaataa - Bambaataa's Theme, Bomb The Bass - Megablast, Together - Hardcore Uproar, Awesome 3 - Hard Up and many more great track use The End sample. BIG tune.

Edited 18 years agoThat famous foreboding melody throughout the film transposed up quite a few octaves and perfectly blended with a nice moving bassline and 4/4 beat. The reverb on the snare drum is so huge, it fills in the gaps of the track whenever they are present. Chilling toms of the "rolling thunder" variety. And to top it all off, some of the deepest, most beautiful synth choir voices ever committed to vinyl!

Edited 18 years agoJohn Carpenter is a film producer wrote many of his own soundtracks, as he wanted to maintain full control over his vision for the mood an emotion for his films. He even once commented that you should only listen to his tracks if you have seen the film, or else it will make no sense and will not have served its purpose. "The End" is a dark, moody and mysterious electronic arrangement around 125 BPM, and even though i have not seen the film, just by looking at the cover and listening to the track, i can already sense a slightly dark and depressed tone. "The End" is still played today by all the top electronic jocks such as Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Juan Atkins and DJ Hell. Its now 23 years old, but still sounds amazing today, and you can tell its the work of someone who puts real emotion into his work.
